Im Already Thinking About Christmas

Hi everyone

How are you?
As I’m somewhat out of action at the moment, my mind has been wandering toward Christmas. I love it when all the family comes together, and I can catch up with my friends. Between us, we only have a few days off when we can be together. I love my family and friends to bits. One of the best things about this time of year is finding the perfect gifts for everyone.

I have been known to shop for the odd jumper or two at this time of year. I sometimes think you just have to go with your heart for what’s right. Guys seem happy to sit in tees while us girls are shivering away. They have only themselves to blame when I intervene with something woolly! I’m actually quite keen to buy family and friends fashion items. I think it’s always nice to get something new to wear in winter.

Of course, fashion accessories are the easiest things to buy in the world, but not the easiest to get right. I have to admit to cheating a little. I check out what my girlfriends are wearing and then buy something quite similar. I know it will be to their taste that way. I suppose gift buying is all about paying attention to what people might like or need. My mum had the tattiest purse you’ve ever seen. I’m sure the coins were falling out of the bottom. She had a lovely new one from me of course!

There are times when you can really be stuck for ideas. You can browse the gift ideas at Cuckooland.com for inspiration if you’re in a rut. Gift websites seem to have everything weird and wonderful. It’s usually quite helpful if they categorise the gifts by the recipient. For me, the retro gifts always make me chuckle.

Christmas is definitely the time for tradition and silliness. If you can combine the two then all the better. I always buy in a box of Christmas crackers. There’s something about wearing a paper hat and telling old fashioned jokes that make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. This year, I’m going to invest in non-slip table mats, though. All those flinging arms made a bit of a mess when glasses and plates got hit!

I may be careful about my weight, but even I know how to have fun at Christmas. Yule logs and roast potatoes are my favourite parts about the Christmas feast. This year I’m determined to enjoy them in moderation. I know I can keep the calories down by just having one glass of wine with the meal too. Most of my family won’t be interested in heading out in bad weather. But I think it’s good for you to walk off a big meal. I may have to ask Santa for winter waterproofs!

I can’t wait for it to be time to decorate the tree. I love sitting in the dark with the fairy lights twinkling away. It’s a great time of year and thinking about it is cheering me up right now. What is your family Christmas like?
