The LED light though, Is super bright. The mirror is 3x magnifulying making make up application even easier.  This helps when doing that pesky eyeliner.

No Make up Selfie and I feel it still makes me look good thanks to the LED light. Shh If like me you take a a selfie or film You-tubes then I use this as my ring light. Yes one Low cost item and many uses! This works like a dream.

Can we take a minute for how stylish this mirror is! I love the sliver mirrored finish and the super bright light ring.

what would you do If the unexpected happened?

Hi everyone,

How are you all?

I don't know about you but at this time of year, You can always guarantee one thing. Expect the unexpected.

Is it just me but you can be so organised, good at saving and budgeting then wham. Your car breaks down probably two weeks before pay day.  Why do these things always happen at Christmas! I have also had the misfortune of the bathroom flooding between Christmas and New Year. Come on, Why Just Why?

What to do? At this time of year I can't access my savings and I am not going to ask a friend or relative for help. Enter vivus.co.uk. I am one of those people who researches everything before for I use it so Loans are the same.  You know I am a stickler for good customer service so That is one of my top priority With any company I use.

So why would I choose Vivus. Vivus are a loan company, Not a broker. So no middle man.

They are here to help me in my time of need. They offer savvy people like me the chance to borrow up to £500 via a one loan repayment loan. This is done on a only what you need bases. So if you need £256 that is what you borrow no more no less. I like this as I feel it put the borrowing in my hands.

For first time borrower like me, they offer a half price first loan. Perfect as who want to pay extra when they don't have too. They want to take the stigma way for short term lending. Last face it we have all been there. So why is there still negativity with this type of loan? It makes not sense to me.  I'm not scared to say I have used them so why are other people? There no shame in needing a bit of help in hard times.

In simple terms ViVus (Subject to status- credit check)

Apply. Get approved, receive the cash, bill paid and you can sleep a bit better that night.  All loans are processed in super quick time too.  Then on your next payday (up to 41 days) you fully repay your loan with interest. Just like that no need to think about it again.

I like that Vivus really care about their customers, They are not just another loan company out to make quick money from other peoples misfortunes. They are for everyday people who keep a handle on there credit but need a hand.  The last thing they want is for us to get into debt, they just want to help tide us over until payday. Perfect for me when the unexpected happens.

Have you used Vivus?

Christmas Home security

Hi Everyone,

How are you all?

It's that time of year where it should be all Christmas cheer and happiness. As you know I was an Police Officer and I have to tell you that this time of year house breaking ( Scotland) or burglary (England) increases.

I know you don't like to believe that people would be so cruel but I have had the misfortune of being at a family's house on Christmas Eve and all the presents have been stolen. Yes even the Santa gifts for the very small children. which were well hidden. All Gone.

Its easy to forget home security especially when there is hundred's of things to do and get. I can not stress enough that protecting your family is paramount. This type of crime can be relatively low impact. In that no one gets physically hurt but sometime this is not always the case. So why gamble with your family's safety. No one likes to think of people in their home, Going through their belonging and this can cause serious stress and anxiety problems not only at the time but can also cause long term problems to your mental health.
So what to do? why not Secure your home for less. I found this site when looking for a new home safe. Yes I have a home safe. No I am not a millionaire and I don't have gold bars in there. I think every home should have one. Its a safe place for keeping all your important items like your engagement ring. I cant wear mine all the time. I like to know its all safe and sound in my safe. My husband joke I would put some of my high end make up in there if I could.

When was the last time you checked all your window and door locks? How many times have you said "I cant find that window key?" Get over there and order new keys. So simple and your back to feeling safe in your own home.
4400D FAST KEY SERVICES LTD Padlocks - Bluetooth Smart
The site has a whole load of security items. My favorite being a padlock which opens via Bluetooth. My hubby would have this for our bike shed. I think I will have to get one as a stocking filler for him.

How safe is your home?

engagement and Vintage luxury jewelry

Hi Everyone,

How are you all?

Its nearly Christmas! OH MY GOSH! I love this time of year. It’s really pretty outside and so romantic.
this time last year one of my best friends got engaged in New York on her 30th birthday and I always thought this is the perfect time of year for a surprise proposal!

I have been in a bit of wedding and engagement fever lately our best friends are getting married next year and last weekend we had the lovely chance to look round their venue and to say it’s not only beautiful but so "them" would be an understatement.

We were also lucky to have been with them the day they got engaged in France in the summer. Fiona (the Bride to be), was given her grandmother gorgeous vintage ring. Not only beautiful but meaningful as she lost her grandmother last year and it was her wish to have Fiona have her ring.

Like very girl I love a good online search and I ended up finding some amazing vintage jewelry here
You may or may not know but I love history. Ever since school, I have always been the one in a museum looking and reading everything. So, vintage Jewelry is heaven to me. I must have lost hours to this site.

What I love about this site is it has something for everyone from affordable lux to decadent pieces that need to be seen to be properly admired. There is even Medieval Duchess of Lancaster sapphire posy ring, circa 1360-1400 AD which looks amazing. The story behind this ring is lovely.

It not only stocks divine engagement rings but a full range of vintage jewels. I love the Diamond set eternity ring, French, circa 1920 which is only £1500. Hint hubby Hint if you are reading this.

I am in love with Dachshund dog brooch, circa 1910. I really want a Dachshund.

If you are looking for a unique Christmas gift why not go have a browse.

Top Tips for bike storage

Hi Everyone,

How are you all?

I have been having a bit of a nightmare at the moment. We have too many bike and a very old shed with leaking windows.

I thought I'd do My top tips in bike maintenance and storage!

1. Always wash and clean your kit. Not only will this keep everything in tip top order but it is the easiest way to check everything is in tip top order. although think carefully at this time of year if you are out biking in freezing conditions.

2. With winter here. We have done a shed check and found our window are broken and leaking. Now this is where our problem came in. Me being, me looked at buy a whole new shed. The cost of a new shed which can fit all our ever expanding bike collection in was going to cost a small fortune. (NOT just before Christmas) But the last thing we want was rust setting in to our kit.

My hubby suggested getting new windows for the shed. This was not something I though you could do? I nipped online and found some Clear Perspex Sheet which came cut to size and my hubby fitted it. This saved us a fortune. I cant believe I was looking at buying a new shed!

3. Take your bike to a local bike mechanic to do a winter health check yes this can be expensive but it will save you a fortune in the long run. Lets face it we all hit the trails hard this summer.  If like me you have no notion to stop over the winter season its time to get you kit checked no one want a big crash due to a faulty bike.

4. Now in the biking world this is conversational but I store my bike the right way up. I find if I don't my brakes take a bit of work to get them back to normal. But some people like to store them upside down.

5. Invest in a good bike rack. this might seem like a strange one to add in here but my hubby lost a bike as it feel off the roof. it was a nice carbon bike he was raging.

6. BUY insurance this is worth its weight in gold. please see last point we were lucky that we had our bikes covered and my hubby got a new one really quickly. I should have mentioned this happened not long before a booked biking trip.

Hope you are all hitting the trails this winter.

Why its important to warm up before a workout

Hi Everyone,

How are you all?

During the festive period, you might not be thinking about your fitness regimen as much as usual. Most people plan to have a splurge over Christmas and New Year only to start a ‘get fit’ resolution once January swings round. Why not get ahead of the curve and focus on keeping active as we head into party season? London Bridge Hospital have some tips to make sure you’re perfectly prepared for your work out.

Preventing injury
When doing any exercise, it's important to make sure you’re properly limbered up and ready to go. It might seem minor or an unnecessary thing to do, but warming up is vitally important for several reasons. Whether you’re doing cardio or strength training, it's important to take 5 or 10 minutes to get your blood pumping and muscles loose to take on a bigger challenge.

Warming up helps to get your brain and body into the exercise you’re about to start but it will also help to prevent injuries. By raising your core temperature and getting your blood pumping before a work out, various studies suggest that warming up will not only improve your flexibility but can also help to you to keep a stable heart rate during cardio. Common injuries from improper preparation range from sprains and strains all the way up to fractures and dislocations which could put you out of action for weeks.

Stages of warm up
Now we know why it's important to prepare for exercise but, how do we do it? There are four main stages of warming up these are:

  • Increasing the heart rate, jogging or a light run will also help to get oxidised blood pumping to the muscles to loosen them up.
  • Stretching, depending on what type of exercise you’re about to embark on, it's a good idea to stretch the muscles you will be relying on. For running, make sure you limber up your legs but for team sports like netball, you’d need to incorporate arm stretches in too.
  • Practice, whatever the activity you’re going to be doing, it's a good idea to go through a practice run first. This will help to get your mind and body into it and will also let you know if you are ready to ramp it up.
  • Mental preparation, we’ve all heard the phrase ‘get your head in the game’ but mentally preparing for your activity beforehand can get you motivated and help you envision success.

Ensuring that you cover all of these areas will help to make sure that you make the most of your workout and stay safe from injury.

Cool off

You’ve warmed up and had a great session in the gym, you might be thinking that you’re done but, it's best to take 10 minutes to have a cool down. This can help to reduce your heart rate back to before your workout and get rid of lactic acid which builds up during exercise and can cause muscle tension and stiffness.

Peebles hydro biking trip

Hi Everyone,

How are you all?

A couple weeks back me and the hubby and our Dalmatian Mylo headed for a biking trip to Peebles.
We have stayed in the MacDonald in the area before and the Mercure. We found a cracking Dinner bed and breakfast deal from 5pm.co.uk for the Peebles Hydro. I've just checked site and they are doing black Friday deals at £49 for a double room bed and breakfast!

Me and my Hubby love biking at Glentress and I love a nice hotel so this deal was ideal for us. Here is a run down of our stay.

Look at our welcome! You had me at the strawberry but add a cheeky bottle of prosecco and I'm in heaven! they perfect welcome after hitting glentress for some shreadding.

The way to my heart is through my pups now Millie didn't come with us as she has bad hip and I like to monitor her activity. Mylo is our biking do and he lives for biking and gets so excited when the bikes come out and the treatment he got at the hydro was amazing, I book dog friendly hotels but I always worry about how they will react to the dogs  but this hotel went above and beyond.  Mylo was welcomed in reception and then we went to our room and he was given this welcome!
My hubby laughed at me as I almost cried. A tennis a water bowl and a wee bed and a lovely welcome card letting us know what we could and couldn't do with the pup.

Our room was so nice and had been freshly renovated. The room as huge I mean HUGE! The bathroom was so nicely decorated and they bath was so deep.

What a view from our room and a photo I took when taking mylo for a wee walk before bed

They have a gin palace and there own brewery onsite my hubby enjoyed sampling the ale.

The only issue we had was we had to wait 40 minutes to have our order taken for dinner. this was annoying but the lovely Angus ( I think this is his name) Gave us complimentary drinks and was extremely apologetic. The food was devine. I had cold soup to start and it was so zesty and fresh.
Then I had the chicken which was succulent and so tasty. Hubby had the fish and chips and he said it was amazing.

Having now stayed in most of the hotels in the area. To me I would definitely choose the Hydro out of all of them. We used the pool and it was clean and so nice. There is a Jacuzzi and steam and sauna the best way to help the muscles after a hard day on the trails. Next time I'm gonna book a spa treatment to. I didn't have time this visit but next time I defo will.

How to survive in a remote region

Hi Everyone,

How are you?

If you have been following me for a while you will know. I live in the Highland of Scotland.
Where I live, there is one road out and one road in unless you have a boat or helicopter.

So, as snow hits the UK today. I begin to think about winter. Last winter we were without electricity for 5 Days. Yes, no Phone, Internet, Heating, TV you name it we didn't have it!
Living rural is a blessing and a curse. I have grown up in the Highland and If I'm honest I did know that living with the electricity going off in the winter isn't normal!

I have been asked every strange question about rural living. Like do you have flushing toilets? But surely you have a waitrose?  How do you survive up there?

I was reading a campaign that Flogas Ran called #IWouldMiss here is my favourite facts and figures.

Flogas spoke to 910 Brits and found out
  •  that 80% have considered joining me in the rural living ideal.
  •  Running water was voted the most needed necessity followed by Gas and electricity. I must admit I miss my gas. I loved having gas when I lived in a city. It’s just better but that's my opinion. Cooking with gas is so much quicker.
  • 77% of people are confident that they would be able to change a gas canister. Which I find quite surprising as It is a lot harder than you would think speaking from experience. does anyone remember old fashion heaters with the big canisters in. We relied on them in the winter.
  • Almost half of the participants would miss their smartphone within a week. I believe this is people not being totally honest. Most people I know are glued to their phone and up here we can go weeks without signal! and I must say it is harder than you can imagine especially for a blogger like me. There are only two networks that work in my village and they don't work very well.
Here some much need advice to you all if you still fancy coming to join me.

Perpetration is key and you must give up some luxury's I'm afraid.
You always must have staples in the cupboards like dried pasta, sauces, tinned veg and some UHT milk for tea. So, you can whip up a meal on a comping stove.
We have a coal fire and this is what heats the living room when we have power cut.
Candles and touches are also a must for light.
Not forget entertainment books, board games and if you are lucky enough power on your laptop to watch a film or two.

Now not only in winter but we must really work hard at weekly shopping. our nearest supermarket is small and about 1 hours’ drive away!
All other shopping like Clothes, Shoes, Sports goods, Dog food, Home items (from sofas to toilet roll) all come from online shopping and can take a long time to get here. So, if you have a big event you need a few weeks to sort an outfit or a 4.5-hour drive to Glasgow! I forgot to mention I bought my car online. Yip car shopping is very hard up here!

Are you sure you are ready to give up a trip to M&S food for a quick meal? Or your gym membership to either walking in the hills or buying home gym equipment?
What about after work drinks? How about working from home with yourself for company.

Come Join me on twitter use #IWillMiss @Flogas_Home

Website speed, does it really matter?

Hi Everyone.

I've never been in to the whole page views and ranking thing. I blog to blog and if I'm honest it’s all a bit above my head. In terms of my site I do the bare minimum. I know I should find out if there gremlins in my site waiting to make my DA lower and thus less visitor etc.  As I sit here I realize I am very naive about all these things and really should do a training course to buff up my skills.

So let’s talk the way I understand things. I am sure most of you are well versed in all thing IT but for those of us who aren't here is what I understand.

Mr Google loves sites who perform well and this means user friendly with fast speed to load content. In the crazy super-fast paced world of interweb speed is money. How any times have you been in the middle of looking something up and the bloody site wont load. GRR what do you do? google the next site with the same product and info! Yip the first site has lost your interest and to be honest annoyed you enough to look elsewhere. No, the best news for the first site, is it?  I know I judge a site that isn't there instantly now a days I mean " if they can sort there site out why am I bothering?"
Speed does equal money and sales.

Google ranks website with fast loading speed higher and if Like me you know only one thing in this crazy day and age. IS GOOGLE RANK MATTERS. Its how people find your little bit of the world and the more people who finadand know you the more money you will make.

I found this awesome site bitcatcha.com who have this cool little tool which help you find out how your site is running and it gives you a grading.

I know you are wondering how I got on.  I got a B! OH NO a B. So this puts me in the top 68% of sites. Which after reading on about my score this is actually not to bad at all. I was

So not only do they check your speed in the UK but New York, LA, Brazil, India, Singapore Japan and Australia. This giving you a worldwide view of whats going on with your site! Why don't you check your site with Bitcatcha.com

So do I have a good enough speed for google? Yes, I do as long as your speed is 200ms and above you are Ok but if you are lower its time to switch your web host as they are really affecting your google ranking! and we don't that do we? Here is a guide to the best Hosting thanks for that Bitcatcha! They have compiled this list with a range of low cost hosting options to help you on your way!

Have you checked your speed?

Monthly favorites

Hi Everyone,

How are you all?

Its a new month and I need to share some monthly favorites with you.
I have been so bad lately, OK this year with sharing what I'm loving but I promise to sort my life out and get this more regular.

My first favorite is a concealer. I always have issues with concealer as it never settles under my eye well and if it does it takes a lot of work to get it to stay. Enter dry eye concealer £11.95. I normally buy very expensive concealers and they cost me a at least double the price of this one.

Shh, I fake tan. I know shock and this causes me to get some dryness under my eyes and lets be honest summer also leads my skin to get dehydrated too. This concealer contains Cardiospermum this is a natural vine extract which is proven to help itching and inflammation in the skin. The concealer has been formulated to feed dry skin with Biolin which is a skin probiotic this helps the flora of our skin to repair and seal in moisture.

The applicator is nice it has a click to release the product and a lovely brush. . I love the packaging it looks high end and luxe without the price tag to follow. The photo above does not do justice to
how it look in real life. I love that illuminating finish. This last all day! It has a very hydrating felling and it doesn't go cakey in the slightest. Love this product!

Next Up is hair care! My hair is driving me nuts at the moment! Its so fine and it always takes a hit in autumn. It feels like all the moisture has been sucked out of it! GRRR I have been using Grow Gorgeous strengthening oil £25 and Grow Gorgeous hair growth serum £29.99. To help with my hair repair.

I use the strengthening oil daily through the mind lengths and ends. I use a couple or drops warm it in my hand and smooth it through. It leaves my hair nice and soft and not weighted down. I feel this has helped my hair get a bit thicker it is early days with this product but I love it. It so much better than other oils I have used. The smell is nice its nutty with a zesty mix.

The hair growth serum I use this a bit differently as I have fine hair . What i do is use it every second day before I wash my hair. I pop about 25-30 drops in my hair massaging it in to my scalp and leave it on as long as I can. Mostly I do a workout them shower. I have found my hair is growing so fast. I had my roots done about a week again and I can all ready see lots of roots which never normally happens and the only thing I am doing different is these two oils!!! doing it this way makes sure my hair is left non greasy and so soft and bouncy.

KAT VON DEE where has she been all my make up life! I am obsessed with this lipstick its on sale at debenhams £14.40. This is the BEST. (I know big claim!) I have never had such a long lasting non drying lipstick in my whole life. The pigment in insane. I got this as a sample in a beauty box and I wouldn't hesitate to buy a full size one or two or all of them! Plus that packaging look how cool and dynamic it is !!!

Kat Von Dee again her tattoo eye liner debenhams £14.40 in the sale. This is heaven in a eyeliner! Perfect fine line and so workable!Did I mention it is soooooooo pigmented and it will stay on for ever or until you get a really good make up remover! I wish she did eyeliner pots as a make up artist I don't like using pen liners on my clients just for hygienic reason and I would buy these in bulk if I could! Any chance KAT ?

I bought this from her website I cant remember nor find the email receipt sorry.
I love these insane quality. Long lasting and the colours are awesome. I would say these are super drying and I need to use a good lip moisturizer after but worth it!

Whats your Monthly faves?
