Traditional afternoon tea anyone? - MissLJBeauty

Traditional afternoon tea anyone?

I have a secret. Ok, it's not the best-kept secret in my life but I am obsessed with afternoon teas. Before I met my husband I had never had one and if I am honest. I didn't really know what they were. My husband is from outside Windsor. I think afternoon tea is a bit more of an English tradition than one we had in the north of Scotland.

Afternoon tea instantly gives you images of dining in luxury hotels, with men in expensive three piece suits and woman in lovely designer dresses and shoes sipping on champagne and cocktails. I love the idea of this. It is just so classic and sophisticated.

You should know I am the biggest sweet tooth. I love cakes, sweets and well anything chocolatey. Yes, I do have it in moderation now. If you have followed me for a while. You will know that I used to be seven and a half stone heavier. I am of the opinion that each treats needs to be worth it.  I really think nice afternoon tea is the ultimate in luxury for me.

What is afternoon or cream tea?
Typically they all start in an upmarket hotel or restaurant. A nice elegant establishment. There are many varieties from champagne to gin or no alcohol at all afternoon teas. You are typically greeted with a drink. Seated at a table or nice couch area. Then you are given your menu to choose some delicate finger sandwiches. Think salmon, cucumber and ham and mustard are in a normal afternoon tea line up. Next up warm scones and clotted cream and jams. Then, of course, a selection of cakes. Of course, this is all accompanied by a selection of the finest teas or coffee if you prefer. Absolute perfection. You will leave fit to burst with happiness.

What I love about it.
It's not just the cakes and tea. Ok, it is a bit but I love the tradition of it all. It brings people together in an elegant setting. It makes you disconnect the technology and enjoy your surrounding. After the Instagram shot has been taken obviously. My mother and father in law live in Devon. One of my favourite things to do with them is going for an afternoon tea somewhere. I love afternoon teas that much that my hen doo involved a gorgeous afternoon tea. My husband knows the way to my heart is a spa break with afternoon tea. Yes, I am that obsessed with it. I may need help.

One of my all-time favourites.
If you are in the area have afternoon tea in Cheshire, Mottram Hall has one of the best afternoon teas in England. The hotel its self is stunning. It is elegant with a traditional charm. It offers the chance to have afternoon tea in gorgeous surroundings whilst sampling the best cakes. Why not treat your girlfriends for a special occasion? No, why not just brighten up a dull week. You will thank me for the suggestion.  It is the perfect treat for any occasion really.
