I am a fan of the famous bum bum cream, and I love a body oil. So when I saw this launch, I was very excited, and you know, in the name of beauty blogging, I had to buy this and test it for you because I had to, right? 

If you’ve ever wanted your daily shower to feel like a luxury spa moment in Brazil, you’ve probably had your eye on Sol de Janeiro’s Delícia Drench Shower Oil, too. This new release from the cult-favourite brand promises next-level hydration, a gorgeous glow, and a luxurious scent experience we’ve all come to associate with Sol de Janeiro. But is it all smooth skin and sweet smells—or just another pretty bottle in the bathroom?

I’ve spent the past few weeks putting this nourishing shower oil to the test. Here’s my honest delicia drench shower oil review, plus everything you need to know before splurging.

Spoiler: I have now purchased the travel size after I finished my big one. 

What is the Sol de Janeiro Delícia Drench Shower Oil?

The Delícia Drench Shower Oil is Sol de Janeiro’s hydrating body cleanser that transforms from oil to gentle lather. Designed to cleanse the skin without stripping it, this oil-gel hybrid offers both luxury and function. It’s part of the Cheirosa 59-scented collection, known for its sweet, sensual, creamy aroma that has been sent from the gods. This is one of the best scents I have ever smelled. Just cover me in this, and I am in heaven. 

The product claims to nourish dry skin, leave you smelling amazing, and offer a more skin-softening experience than your average body wash.

What Ingredients Are in the Delícia Drench Shower Oil?

The star ingredients in this formula include:

• Brazilian Soothing Complex – with passionflower seed oil, bacuri butter, and prebiotic hibiscus to nourish and calm

• Sunflower seed oil – a lightweight oil that hydrates without clogging

• Coconut-derived cleansing agents - help gently wash away dirt without being harsh

What Makes Sol de Janeiro’s Shower Oil Unique?

Most shower oils on the market are either too greasy or don’t feel like they cleanse properly. I think you are either an oil lover in body care or not. It's a marmite situation.  What sets this one apart is how well-balanced it is. It delivers just enough hydration while still giving you that clean skin feeling. No greasy body here. Combine that with Sol de Janeiro’s cheriose 59 fragrance layering and the luxe texture, and you’ve got a body wash that feels like a treatment.

How Does the Delícia Drench Shower Oil Perform on the Skin?

After rinsing the de Janeiro Delicia drench shower oil, skin feels soft, smooth, and velvety, not too oily it does lather quite well too. It gives a subtle radiance, and my legs especially felt more hydrated and less rough after just a few uses. What magic is this? I didn’t feel the need to apply body butter immediately after showering, which is rare for my dry skin. Remember, unlike most people, my legs are out in mountain biking shorts in all weathers. So for me not to reach for the thick coconut goodness of the bum bum cream, this is very unusual for me. 

Is the Delícia Drench Shower Oil Gentle on the Skin?

Yes! This is one of the most gentle cleansers I’ve tried in a long time. Even if you have sensitive skin, the formula is fragrance-rich but non-stripping, making it suitable for daily use. The oils and soothing complex help to restore moisture and protect against that tight, dry feeling some body washes leave behind.

So I have a problem with dryness in my skin, and sometimes I need to only use a sensitive shower gel like Sanex, you know not so glam as Drench but it normally helps me. But I had no issues when I used this, even when my skin was a little upset and dry. 

How Does It Hydrate Dry Skin?

Thanks to the bacuri butter and passionflower seed oil, this product works by infusing moisture into the skin while you cleanse. It locks in hydration without feeling like a heavy layer on your body. It’s the ideal solution for winter skin, rough patches, or just anyone looking for that post-shower glow without needing a second product.

Does It Leave a Greasy Feeling?

Surprisingly, no. It rinses clean without any sticky or greasy residue. You get all the benefits of a nourishing oil, with none of the mess or discomfort. It’s perfect for those who want to skip body moisturiser but still want soft, supple skin. Plus that scent!

What Scent Can You Expect from the Delícia Drench Shower Oil?

The shower oil is fragranced with Cheirosa 59, a new scent in the Sol de Janeiro line. It’s soft, sensual, and slightly warm, making it a little more subtle than Cheirosa 62 but still totally addictive.

What Are the Fragrance Notes in the Delícia Drench Shower Oil?

Cheirosa 59 is described as a romantic, creamy scent, with:

• Top: Velvet plum

• Middle: Sugared violet and vanilla orchid

• Base: Sheer sandalwood and vetiver

It’s rich, sweet, and floral, but not overpowering, perfect for layering with a matching Sol de Janeiro mist or body cream. Just bury me in this it is pure scent bliss. Imagine waking up on a deserted island with stunning palm trees, glistening waters and for some reason warm caramel cookies, and this scent is that, but with a warm sweet twist. Honestly bliss. 

How Long Does the Scent Linger on the Skin?

The scent lasts a few hours post-shower, especially if you pair it with the Delícia Drench body butter or the Cheirosa 59 mist. It’s not as long-lasting as a perfume, but for a shower product, it definitely makes an impression. But what I will say is my husband went into our en-suite when he got home from work, and I had showered in the morning, and he asked what the smell was. So i do wonder if other people can smell this after we can. 

Is the Cheirosa 59 Scent Worth It?

Absolutely, especially if you love warm vanilla and powdery floral scents. It’s a bit more grown-up and complex than the classic 62, making it ideal for those who want something sweet but refined. It's definitely one of Sol de Janeiro's most elegant fragrance profiles. 

Can the Delícia Drench Shower Oil Be Used for Shaving?

Yes! In fact, it’s one of the best uses for this product. The slick, cushiony texture is perfect for shaving, especially on dry or sensitive skin. It helps the razor glide smoothly, reducing irritation and leaving legs feeling silky and moisturised. But not for intimate areas, ladies. I recommend not putting any kinda oil or lotion on there. 

What Are the Benefits of Using Shower Oil for Shaving?

Shaving with a shower oil like this one offers:

• Better glide with fewer nicks

• Hydration during the shave

• Less post-shave dryness or irritation

• A smoother finish compared to traditional foams or gels

Is the Delícia Drench Shower Oil Worth the Price?

Right here is the elephant in the room. At around £26 for 295ml or £10 for the 90ml travel size, it sits on the higher end of the body wash spectrum. But when you consider the luxurious formula, the high-quality ingredients, and the multi-use benefits (cleanser, hydrator, shaving product), it feels like a good investment for anyone looking to upgrade their daily routine. I mean, I can justify it to myself every time. It makes every show a luxurious experience instead of a chore. See told you I can justify it. 

How Does It Compare to Other Body Washes?

Compared to drugstore shower gels, the Delícia Drench feels like a complete step in the game, more hydrating, more sensory, and more skin-loving. It offers better fragrance payoff, a gentler formula, and real nourishment for dry or dull skin.

How to Incorporate the Delícia Drench Shower Oil Into Your Routine

Swap it in as your everyday body cleanser, especially if your skin is feeling dry, rough, or irritated. It also works beautifully as a shave oil, and it’s the perfect base layer if you're into body care layering (think oil > butter > mist).

What Is the Best Way to Use the Delícia Drench Shower Oil?

Use on damp skin in the shower, apply a generous amount to your hands or a sponge and massage in circular motions. You can rinse immediately or let it sit for a few seconds before rinsing for extra hydration and softness. 

Can You Layer It with Other Sol de Janeiro Products?

Definitely. It’s designed to be layered with other Sol de Janeiro body products, especially those in the Cheirosa 59 fragrance family. It also pairs nicely with Cheirosa 62 or body butters for a custom blend of sweet and warm.

Who Might Not Love the Delícia Drench Shower Oil?

While the sol de janeiro delicia drench is a luxurious treat for most skin types, it might not be the best fit for everyone.  You know I will always be honest with you all over here. 

If you have very oily or acne-prone skin on your body, you may prefer a lighter, non-oil-based cleanser to avoid potential pore congestion, especially on areas like the back or chest. Also, if you’re extremely sensitive to fragrance, even though the formula is gentle, the Cheirosa 59 scent might be too strong for you. This isn’t a fragrance-free or minimal-scent product it's the opposite It’s designed to be part of the Sol de Janeiro sensorial experience, so if you're scent-sensitive, this might not be your ideal daily wash.

Plus, as I always say, patch test. Yes, even body product. Here is an example of the need for testing products. I used to wear a certain perfume all the time. I got a new bottle and sprayed it happily all over me. It has been reformulated and I was very reactive. Off to the doctors I had to go as it really damaged/burnt my skin. PATCH TEST people! 

My Review

I think you know where this is going. I’ve tried a lot of body washes, but Sol de Janeiro’s Delícia Drench Shower Oil has quickly become one of my top picks. It’s more than just a pretty bottle, it’s a hydrating, gentle, multi-use product that leaves your skin feeling soft, smooth, and smelling divine. If you’re someone who loves turning your everyday shower into a mini self-care moment, this one’s for you. I can not reccomend this enough. I am in love. I am obsessed, I am infatuated to a stalker level with this product. I get a cold sweat thinking they might discontinue it. 

I am defo picking up the perfume and body mist of this scent and making it my next holiday aroma. This, to me, is on my must-buy beauty list; it's even above my Sol de Janeiro bum bum cream if I had to choose one, it would be this little dream come true scent. OBCESSED My skin is nourished and feels silky smooth when I have used this, and I notice the differance when shaving. This is the product I was always looking for, but didn't know I needed it.
