Quick Verdict (TL;DR)

If you want a body wash that exfoliates, hydrates, and smells incredible, Sol de Janeiro’s Bom Dia Bright is a treat worth splurging on. The AHAs and BHAs work wonders on dull or bumpy skin, and the Cheirosa 40 scent lingers for hours. Pricey? Yes. Effective? Absolutely. It’s like a mini spa treatment every time you shower. In my opinion it is the best exfoliating body wash I have ever tried, but keep reading to see if it's for you.

What is Sol de Janeiro Bom Dia Bright Body Wash?

 What are the key ingredients?

This body wash isn’t just about cleansing; it’s a treatment in the shower. Here’s what really goes into the formula:

  • Fruit-derived AHAs (from mango and banana) and vegan lactic acid (another AHA): These gently exfoliate away buildup and dead skin, revealing smoother, more radiant-looking skin.
  • Salicylic acid (BHA): Helps dissolve pore congestion, target ingrown hairs, and leave skin feeling clearer and more refined.
  • Glycerin: A hydrating humectant that draws and retains moisture, leaving skin soft and plump.
  • Botanical extracts like papaya, mango, banana, cajá pulp, papaya, and more—these deliver antioxidants, gentle natural exfoliation, and a luxe texture.
  • Willow bark extract: A natural source of salicin, offering light soothing and anti-inflammatory benefits.
  • Aloe vera and turmeric (Curcuma longa) extract: Known for soothing redness, calming irritation, and delivering antioxidant support.
  • Coconut-derived surfactants (e.g., sodium cocoyl isethionate): A sulfate-free, gentle cleansing base that washes skin clean without stripping essential moisture.
  • Sol de Janeiro’s iconic Cheirosa 40 fragrance: A sultry blend that features black amber plum, crème de cassis, jasmine blooms, Brazilian orchid, vanilla woods, and warm musk

This blend of chemical exfoliants, natural botanical extracts, and a clean, gentle base makes it well-suited for brightening, smoothing, and caring for skin without harsh stripping.

How does it differ from other body washes?

Most body washes are purely cleansing; Bom Dia is a treatment and cleanser in one. You get the joy of a creamy lather combined with the skin-renewing benefits of chemical exfoliation, meaning your moisturiser works better afterwards and your skin stays smoother for longer.

What skin types is it best suited for?

It’s particularly good for:

  • Dull, uneven skin tone
  • Keratosis pilaris (KP) or bumpy skin on arms and thighs
  • Back or chest congestion
  • Dry, flaky areas that need regular exfoliation
  • Product build-up
  • If you wax or epilate and suffer from ingrown hairs

If your skin is highly sensitive or prone to eczema flare-ups, patch test first, as the acids could be too active for you. You know what I always say, patch test everything you just never know what you will react too.

What are the benefits of using this Body Wash?

Does it really brighten the skin?

Yes, and quite quickly.  I could not believe it but within a week, my skin looked fresher, smoother, and more even. Regular use helps fade that “grey” dullness you sometimes get in winter, leaving you with a healthier glow. Honestly, I have tried active washes before, but this one really does give you improvements in a quick time. The surface of my skin looked differnt from the first clarifying body wash.

How hydrating is this body wash?

For something exfoliating, this janeiro bom dia bright clarifying wash, is surprisingly nourishing. The  Coconut-Derived Cleansing System give a soft, conditioned feel straight out of the shower, no tightness, no stripping sensation.

Does it provide a long-lasting fragrance?

Absolutely. The Cheirosa 40 scent of the bright clarifying aha bha body wash lingers beautifully; I could still smell it on my skin several hours later, especially when layered with the matching body cream or mist.

Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 40 Scent: Bom Dia Bright Body Wash Fragrance Notes

If you’re a Sol de Janeiro fan, you know their scents are half the reason we buy their products. I ma obsessed with them! Bom Bright features Cheirosa 40, a sophisticated yet comforting blend. You get juicy black amber plum up front, followed by soft floral jasmine, all wrapped in a creamy vanilla woods base. It’s warm, sweet, and slightly fruity, but with a depth that makes it feel more like a fine fragrance than just a clarifying aha bha body wash. I feel like this one has more depth than their signature scent.

Bom Dia Bright Body Wash Packaging & Texture

Like all Sol de Janeiro products, Dia Bright wash is a sunshine-in-a-bottle moment. The bold yellow-orange bottle with white flip-top lid is cheerful and instantly recognisable in your shower. It’s sturdy, easy to squeeze, and dispenses just the right amount,  But be careful this is very liquidy in texture, so try to remember this so you don’t waste product. The branding is playful yet chic, and the packaging is fully recyclable, which earns it extra points.

How to use Sol de Janeiro Bom Dia Bright Body Wash?

How to Use Bom Dia Bright Body Wash for Best Results?

I apply a generous amount to my sponge or a shower puff, lather it up and sweep over my damp skin, and take a moment to breathe in the scent. The acids work best with a short contact time, so I leave the lather on for a minute before rinsing. Paying particular attention to my arm pits and legs, and do not put this near your private part. Never put body wash there, ladies, we all know why.

This product is amazing at getting rid of deodorant under the arms. That's the job of the salicylic acid to help remove the buildup of dead skin and old product.  We have all been there, but if you dont know, a buildup of deodorant and antiperspirant can actually cause you to smell so always make sure to get a good scrub in there.

Bom dia, bright clarifying aha wash is great at helping to remove old fake tan too. I have used it when I have had a little orange tan disaster to remove the unwanted streaks.

Should it be used with other products?

Yes, use Dia Bright clarifying aha bha, then follow with a moisturiser (especially the matching Body Cream) helps lock in hydration and boosts that fragrance longevity.

How often should you use it for best results?

Every other day works well for me, though you could use it daily if your skin tolerates acids well. But I always used this under my arms even on days I don't use it all over.

What Products Shouldn’t Be Used with Bom Bright Body Wash?

Because Bom Bright Body Wash contains exfoliating acids (lactic acid and salicylic acid), it’s best to avoid pairing it in the same shower routine with other strong exfoliants to prevent over-exfoliation and irritation.

You might want to skip using it alongside:

  • Body scrubs with gritty particles (can cause micro-tears when combined with acids)
  • Other AHA/BHA body washes or lotions (too much acid can lead to redness and sensitivity)
  • Retinol or retinoid body creams should not be applied immediately after use (can make skin more sensitive)
  • Benzoyl peroxide cleansers (can cause excessive dryness when mixed with acids)

If you’re using stronger actives like retinol, benzoyl peroxide, or prescription exfoliants, alternate them with Bom Dia Bright on different days. This way you still get the brightening benefits without stressing your skin barrier.

What to Pair with the Body Wash for Best Results

If you want to get the absolute most from Bom Dia Bright, pairing it with complementary products will take your shower routine from nice to next-level.

  • Sol de Janeiro Bom Dia Bright Body Cream – Locks in hydration after exfoliation and layers beautifully with the Cheirosa 40 fragrance for an all-day scent.
  • A gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser (like CeraVe Moisturising Cream) – Perfect for sensitive skin days when you want hydration without extra actives.
  • SPF body lotion – Because freshly exfoliated skin is more sun-sensitive, protecting it is a must (Bondi Sands SPF 50 Body Lotion is a great pick).
  • Exfoliating mitt or soft shower puff – Helps the body wash foam up and work more evenly, without over-scrubbing.

If you’re building a Sol de Janeiro collection, pairing the body wash with the matching Perfume Mist will lock in the fragrance and make you smell incredible all day.

Before & After: My Results

After my first use of the bom dia bright clarifying aha, my skin already felt softer. By week two, the rough texture on my upper arms and scaly legs had smoothed noticeably, and my legs had a more even tone and fewer ingrown hairs. If you epilate like me you know that the odd ingrown hair is part and parcel of the journey we go on to be hair free this really helps.

I have tried so many active washes, but I have never had results this fast from one before. I wish I had found it before my holiday, not on my way back!

The glow isn’t an instant fake tan-type effect; it’s a gradual, healthy brightness that comes from fresh, well-exfoliated skin and I am so here for it.

Does Bom Dia Bright Help with Keratosis Pilaris?

Yes, the combination of AHAs and BHAs makes it ideal for tackling KP. The acids loosen the keratin plugs that cause bumps, while the moisturising ingredients prevent the area from drying out and looking worse. I think this is the best body wash for KP in the UK. I havent tried any other UK exfoliating product that has this much effect on my KP.

KP stands for keratosis pilaris a very common, harmless skin condition that shows up as tiny, rough bumps on the skin, often called “chicken skin.” or "strawberry skin" AKA my legs lol

It happens when keratin (a protein that protects the skin) builds up and plugs hair follicles. This buildup creates small, hard bumps that can feel dry and slightly rough, often on the:

  • Upper arms
  • Thighs
  • Bum
  • Sometimes on cheeks

Is Bom Bright Safe for Sensitive Skin?

It depends. If your skin is generally sensitive but can tolerate mild acids, you may be fine with every-other-day use. However, if you get stinging, redness, or irritation, cut back to once a week or try a gentler non-acid wash. Always patch test.

What do other people say about their experience with Bom?

What are the positive reviews highlighting?

Most people rave about the scent, the immediate smoothness after rinsing, and the gradual brightening effect. Many say it’s helped with KP and rough patches they’ve had for years.

Are there common complaints or issues?

Price is the biggest one at over £20, it’s a luxury buy. A few reviewers with sensitive skin said the acids were too strong for everyday use.

How does it compare to other washes on the market?

Compared to CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser, which was my go-to, it’s far more indulgent, but they offer similar exfoliating benefits. If you want luxury plus results, Bom Dia Bright wins.

Is Sol de Janeiro Bright Wash worth the price?

How does the price compare to similar products?

At £23 at 385ml for the product, it’s pricier than drugstore options but cheaper than some spa-brand exfoliating washes. You’re paying for both the results and the sensorial experience. But it is expensive, so a treat product.  But you could try it with a travel-sized and see if you like it as much as I do.

Where can you buy it?

I am UK-based, and here you can get it from the Sol de Janeiro site, Cult Beauty, LookFantastic, Amazon and Sephora. Always check for bundle offers, discount codes and free gift promos.

Final thoughts: Who should consider buying this?

Is it suitable for daily use?

Yes, if your skin tolerates acids well but always patch test.

Who might want to avoid this product?

If you have eczema, broken skin, or severe sensitivity, this might be too active for you.

Why Buy Sol de Janeiro Bom Dia Bright Body Wash?

If you’re after more than just a basic body cleanser, Bom Dia Bright is worth a spot in your shower for a few reasons. First, it’s not just about smelling amazing (although the Cheirosa 40 scent is an absolute mood-lifter that lingers for hours). This formula actually works to improve your skin’s texture and glow thanks to its clever mix of AHAs and BHAs.

That means it’s ideal if you deal with dull skin, rough patches, or even keratosis pilaris (those pesky little bumps). It gently exfoliates while you wash, so you’re getting smoother, softer skin without an extra step in your routine.

It’s also sulfate-free and packed with hydrating ingredients like glycerin and aloe vera, so it won’t strip your skin dry. Think of it as a two-in-one luxury — a spa-worthy fragrance and a skin treatment, all in one bottle.

If you’re already a fan of Sol de Janeiro’s body creams, pairing this with the Bom Dia Bright Body Cream will take your glow (and your fragrance game) to the next level.

If you are a fake tan lover and want to get your skin in the best per application condition or to removed a build up of fake tan this is the wash for you and bonus of a gorgous smell.

Why Skip Sol de Janeiro Bom Dia Bright Body Wash?

While I love the results, this bom dia body wash might not be for everyone. If you have very sensitive skin or react easily to acids (like lactic or salicylic), you might want to patch test first. The fragrance is gorgeous but strong, so it’s not the best choice if you prefer unscented products. And at a higher price point than most washes, it’s definitely a treat rather than an everyday budget buy.

My Review and Thoughts

Bom Dia Bright isn’t just a body cleanser, it’s an experience. If you want smoother, brighter, softer skin with a scent that turns your shower into a little luxury getaway, this is worth every penny.

I have never had any active wash transform my legs as quickly as this did. If I am completely honest, I dont think any have ever really helped as much as this product did. I bought this at the airport on a whim. This brand is so much cheaper in Canada than the UK, and it was hard to really say no when I read the claims on the bottle, and it was the last thing I grabbed before I boarded the plane, and I am so happy I did. Yes, in the UK, this is pricey for a body cleanser, but if you have been struggling like me with your legs or with ingrown hairs, this is definitely worth the investment. It is that good! I would love it if it wasnt so nice smelling. I mean, thankfully, it is, and I just can't believe how hydrating this is, considering it is an exfoliant at heart. I can't see this being replaced in my shower anytime soon. I love it that much. Yes, pricey, but so worth it for being able to have my legs out and not worry about having scaly skin. Team this with my beloved Bum Bum cream and this is my winning combo.

FAQ About Sol de Janeiro Bom Dia Bright on Body Wash

1. Is Sol de Janeiro Bom Dia Bright Body Wash safe for sensitive skin?
It depends on your skin’s tolerance to acids. The formula contains lactic acid and salicylic acid, which can be too active for very sensitive or broken skin. If you’re prone to eczema or irritation, patch test first and consider using it only once or twice a week.

2. Can I use Bom Dia Bright every day?
Yes, if your skin is used to AHAs and BHAs. For most people, every other day is enough to see results without over-exfoliating. I personally use it daily under my arms but only all over my body a few times a week.

3. Does Bom Dia Bright Body Wash help with keratosis pilaris (KP)?
Absolutely. The mix of AHAs and BHAs helps loosen keratin plugs that cause those small bumps, while moisturising ingredients keep the skin soft and smooth. I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my own KP after just two weeks.

4. What does Sol de Janeiro Bom Dia Bright smell like?
It has the Cheirosa 40 fragrance – a sweet, warm, and slightly fruity scent with notes of black amber plum, jasmine blooms, Brazilian orchid, vanilla woods, and warm musk. It’s strong and lasts for hours.

5. Can I use Bom Dia Bright with a body scrub?
Not in the same shower session. Combining physical exfoliants (scrubs) with chemical exfoliants (AHAs/BHAs) can cause irritation or micro-tears. Alternate them on different days instead.

6. Is Sol de Janeiro Bom Dia Bright worth the price?
If you love luxury body care and want visible results for texture, brightness, and smoothness, yes – it’s worth it. If fragrance or price is a concern, you might want to try a smaller travel size first.
