Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment Review (Salted Caramel): Is Hailey Bieber’s Balm Worth the Hype? - MissLJBeauty

Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment Review (Salted Caramel): Is Hailey Bieber’s Balm Worth the Hype?

You know by now I am a sucker for anything hydrating and glossy, so when Hailey Bieber’s Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment started taking over the world, or at least TikTok, I had to see what the fuss was about. I picked up the Salted Caramel version while ordering my Glazing Milk, because honestly, who can resist that name?

My dry and dehydrated lips are always in need of lip balm. I have this funny thing that happens to them. So when the weather changes, they suffer really badly. They go extremely dry and swell. It looks like I have had my lips done. They even seem to have their own natural lip liner. It's bizarre. I hope I'm not alone on this.  So you could say my lips are a very good place to really put a product with all these claims to the test. So, Rhode Skin by Hailey Bieber, let's see what you have got.  Are the various beauty editors right? Or are we all living in a world of hype?

So, after a few weeks of daily use, here is my honest review of whether this viral peptide lip treatment really lives up to the hype and if it deserves a spot in your everyday routine and you spending your hard-earned cash on it.

Quick Take (in case you’re in a rush)

The Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment in Salted Caramel is a silky, glossy, and deeply hydrating lip balm that truly lives up to the hype. It blends peptides, shea butter, and cupuaçu to leave lips looking plumped, nourished, and smooth without any stickiness.

If your lips are feeling dry or dull, this gives instant comfort and a high-shine finish that still feels light and wearable. It’s perfect for everyday use and gentle enough for sensitive lips, though the sweet caramel scent won’t be for everyone.

What Is the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment?

This is not your average balm. The Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment is part of Hailey Bieber’s Rhode Skincare collection, a minimalist beauty line built around barrier-repairing skincare. The product sits somewhere between a lip balm, gloss, and overnight mask, designed to hydrate, smooth, and visibly plump the lips with every use.

The formula contains a blend of restorative peptides and rich emollients that work like skincare for your lips. Unlike a basic gloss that just sits on the surface, this one helps to replenish moisture, strengthen the lip barrier, and lock in hydration. It gives that “glazed” finish Hailey is famous for,  you know what all the buzz around Rhode Is about, without ever feeling heavy or sticky.

The Salted Caramel peptide version adds a sheer golden tint and the most comforting scent,  think warm toffee, vanilla cream, and a touch of sea salt. It’s sweet but balanced, making it feel luxurious rather than overpowering. The texture is cushiony and smooth, gliding on effortlessly and leaving lips instantly softer and glossier.

It’s ideal for anyone with dry or dehydrated lips who still wants a polished, glossy look. You can use it alone for a natural sheen, layer it over lipstick for extra shine, or apply a thicker coat at night as a repairing treatment. This is a hint of a tint, not as much payoff as the peptide lip tint versions.

Key Features at a Glance

What makes the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment special is how it bridges the gap between skincare and makeup. It gives lips that just-been-hydrated look instantly, but it’s also working behind the scenes to keep them soft, smooth, and healthy. The perfect lip product.

  • Peptide-powered repair: The star ingredient supports natural collagen, helping lips stay plump and elastic instead of flaky or tight.

  • Glass-like finish, zero stickiness: It delivers that high-shine, glazed effect without the heavy or tacky feel of a gloss.

  • Comfort all day: The cushiony texture holds up through chatting, coffee, and even Highland winds, keeping lips smooth and nourished.

  • Multi-use magic: Works as a daytime gloss, a conditioning base under lipstick, or a night treatment when you layer it on thick.

  • Kind formula: Cruelty-free, dermatologist-tested, and available in both tinted and unscented versions.

Key Ingredients Explained

The formula is simple but beautifully effective, every ingredient has a purpose and it shows in how it performs.

  • Peptides: Strengthen and smooth the lip barrier while improving texture over time for a naturally fuller look.

  • Shea Butter: Locks in moisture and shields against dryness, perfect for cold or windy weather.

  • Cupuaçu Butter: Rich in fatty acids that deeply hydrate and keep lips supple without feeling greasy.

  • Babassu Oil: A lightweight plant oil high in lauric acid that softens and soothes, ideal for sensitive lips.

  • Vitamin E: Adds antioxidant protection and helps minimise the look of fine lines on bare lips.

Together, these ingredients give you that glossy-hydrated finish instantly while supporting healthier lips long-term,  something most standard glosses simply can’t do.

Available Shades and Scents

The Rhode Skin Peptide Lip Treatment comes in six flavours, each with its own personality. All share the same glossy, cushiony formula that hydrates deeply and leaves lips looking plump and smooth, but the scents and tints make them feel totally different.

  • Salted Caramel: A sheer, warm golden-beige tint. The scent is sweet and creamy with a hint of sea salt,  indulgent yet wearable.

  • Raspberry Jelly: A juicy, cool-toned pink that brightens the face instantly. The light, fruity scent is playful and perfect for summer. ( This one, as I write this, is on a wait list)

  • Watermelon Slice: A soft coral-pink tint with a fresh, uplifting watermelon scent, great for daytime wear or when you want a lighter colour.

  • Vanilla: Creamy nude tint with a soft vanilla scent, warm, comforting, and ideal for minimal-makeup or bedtime.

  • Strawberry Glaze: A new permanent addition. Features a sweet strawberry-doughnut scent and a sheer soft pink tint, making it fun, flirty and perfect for lovers of fruity lip care.

  • Unscented: Clear gloss-balm with no tint and no fragrance,  perfect for sensitive lips or anyone who prefers minimalist lip care.

Each version offers the same peptide-rich care, but the different flavours let you match your mood or the season. If you’re new to Rhode, Salted Caramel is still a great place to start; it’s universally flattering and smells incredible.

Packaging and Applicator

The Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment comes in Rhode’s signature minimal packaging,  sleek, curved, and soft-touch beige tubes with white lettering that feels clean and modern. It’s instantly recognisable but still practical, which I love.

The squeeze-tube design means you can control exactly how much product comes out. The slanted applicator tip is smooth and flexible, gliding comfortably across the lips without dragging. It’s hygienic, mess-free, and great for on-the-go top-ups, even when you’re out walking Mylo or biking in the mountains, so easy and mess-free.

It feels thoughtfully designed,  simple but luxe, just like the rest of Hailey Bieber’s Rhode range.

Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment vs Popular Alternatives
Product Texture Key Actives Finish Price Best For
Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment Gloss-balm hybrid Peptides, Cupuaçu, Shea Glossy, plump £17 Everyday hydration
Laneige Lip Glowy Balm Lightweight gloss Murumuru, Shea Dewy shine £18 Daily use
Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm Creamy balm Shea, Murumuru, Hyaluronic Acid Satin £23 Overnight care

Verdict: Rhode feels more nourishing than Laneige but lighter than Summer Fridays, so it hits that sweet spot between skincare and shine.

How to Use

  1. Gently exfoliate lips before applying.

  2. Swipe a thin layer across the lips.

  3. Build more for extra tint and shine.

  4. Pair with a nude or brown liner for a polished finish.

  5. Reapply throughout the day or use a thicker layer overnight.

Performance and Feel

The first thing you notice is the scent, then the texture: silky and buttery, yet weightless. It glides on evenly, giving an instant sheen that makes your lips look fuller than lip gloss shine. Within minutes, dryness disappears and the lips feel genuinely conditioned rather than coated. I have never come across a lip product that nourished and moisturised my lips so quickly. It makes my lips look full and visibly plump and reduces the fine lines.

I have been wearing it through windy Highland walks with Mylo and long mountain-bike rides, and it has held up impressively. Even after hours outdoors, my lips still feel soft and moisturised. What magic is this, Hailey Bieber Rhode's have developed?

The caramel scent makes it feel comforting and delicious even on cold mornings, and the tint gives a subtle warmth that works with minimal makeup. It layers nicely over lipstick, too, if you want a glossy topcoat finish.

After two weeks of consistent use, my lips feel smoother, with fewer fine lines and zero flaking or that strange thing happening to my lips that happens with every change of the season. It’s one of those products that makes your lips look better even when you are not wearing it. I never thought I would be so into a rhode lip treatment. I thought this would be all hype, especially after I loved the glazing milk. I never thought both products would be standouts.

What Makes It Stand Out

Rhode focuses on lip health as much as shine. The combination of peptides, cupuaçu, and shea helps strengthen the lip barrier and maintain hydration. It’s skincare in disguise, perfect for people who want effortless beauty with real benefits.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

The only downside is availability. It can sell out quickly, especially limited edition shades, and if you are sensitive to fragrance, the Salted Caramel version might be too sweet. Otherwise, it’s a top performer that rivals far more expensive formulas that I own.

My Honest Thought

I spoke above about my lip struggles. Honestly, I can get really embarrassed by my lips. I don't know anyone else whose lips are like mine.  They swell like I have had filler and go red and have a natural lip liner. I was once asked where I had my lips done. It's not just in winter, either; it happens with any change in weather, so in summer or when travelling. I hate it. I also mountain bike in extreme weather. Just to add to my problems with my lips. So, as you can imagine, I have tried every kind of lip treatment possible.

But surprisingly, this product has earned a permanent place in my bag. The Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment is actually more than just a social-media trend; it is genuinely effective, feels luxurious, and fits perfectly into my active lifestyle, and it makes my lips look and feel better and not turn into a crusty monster, thank goodness. Yes, you need to reapply quite often, but this is the same with every lip product, from balms to lip oil.

I love that it hydrates deeply enough for harsh Scottish weather, yet looks polished enough for everyday wear. The subtle golden tint flatters my skin tone, and the buttery formula feels comforting on dry days. I will be buying this in other shades and trying the rhode peptide lip tints.

It is one of those rare influencer launches that truly lives up to its reputation. If you want lips that stay soft, smooth, and glossy no matter the season, this is worth every penny, even if I do think it's very expensive for what it is. It just proves how good Rhodes products are. I can't live without this or the Glazing Milk now.

Final Rating: 9.5 / 10 – my favourite daily gloss-balm hybrid.

FAQs About the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment

Is the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment worth it?
Yes. It hydrates, smooths, and improves lip texture over time with peptide-based skincare ingredients that actually work. For me, it’s one of those rare viral launches that really delivers.

Does it really plump lips?
It gives a natural, fuller look by supporting collagen and elasticity. There’s no tingle or sting, just soft, glossy, healthy-looking lips.

How long does it last on the lips?
Two to three hours on average before reapplying. Overnight, it works beautifully as a repairing treatment.

Can you use Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment every day?
Absolutely. It’s designed for daily use and reapplication. I use mine several times a day without any build-up or heaviness.

Can I use it overnight?
Yes. Apply a thicker layer before bed and wake up with soft, hydrated lips. It works like an overnight lip mask.

Is it suitable for sensitive lips?
Choose the unscented version if you have sensitivity. The formula itself is gentle, barrier-supporting, and free from parabens and silicones.

Is Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment vegan and cruelty-free?
Rhode Skin is cruelty-free and made without animal-derived ingredients, though the brand isn’t officially certified vegan just yet.

Does the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment expire?
Yes. Once opened, it’s best used within 12 months. Look for the small open-jar symbol on the packaging for the exact shelf life.

Can you wear Rhode Lip Treatment with lipstick?
Definitely. It layers beautifully over lipstick for a glossy topcoat, or underneath matte formulas to stop them from drying out.

What shade is best for everyday wear?
Salted Caramel gives a warm nude glow, Vanilla offers a soft neutral tint, and Raspberry Jelly adds a pop of pink when it’s back in stock.

What’s the difference between the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment and the Peptide Lip Tint?
The Lip Treatment focuses on hydration and shine with a hint of tint, while the Lip Tint adds more buildable colour and feels slightly more like a gloss. Both share the same peptide-rich, barrier-repairing formula.

Why is Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment always sold out?
Rhode releases limited quantities, which sell out fast. The best way to grab one is to join the waitlist on the official website or sign up for restock alerts.

Where can I buy it in the UK?
It’s available at the Rhode Skin website, and will officially launch at Sephora UK on 10 November 2025.

How does Rhode compare to Summer Fridays or Laneige?
Rhode feels lighter than Summer Fridays but more nourishing than Laneige. It gives you that perfect balance between skincare and shine with a glossy, comfortable finish.
