Drink More Water

One thing you must do to keep on top of your health is drink around 2L of water a day, this equates to around 6 to 8 glasses. If you don't drink enough water you're at risk of dehydration setting in. This typically presents itself as feeling exhausted with a headache that won't go away.

If you struggle to drink enough water then you're not alone, many people don't like the taste or find it boring. You can get flavoured water pods to put in your water, these not only change the flavour but they can also add extra vitamins and nutrients that you may be lacking. You could also try drinking with a straw or with a straw water bottle as you will naturally take more each time you drink

Exercise Everyday

As an adult it is important you aim to incorporate around 45 minutes of exercise into your daily routine. It is important to remember that this doesn't have to be all in one go. You could do three lots of 15 minutes; one in the morning, one in the afternoon, and then one again in the evening. The key is finding something you enjoy doing, this can be absolutely anything as long as it gets your heart rate up. If you like swimming you could go for a swim after work or even before work. If you're not keen on working out in front of people then you can always work out in the comfort of your own home by following along to workout videos online. If you are a fan of pilates then you could look into reformer pilates and even get home equipment to use.

Eat The Right Foods

Another important factor when it comes to your health and well-being is eating the right foods. You should be aiming for a healthy balanced diet that incorporates all of the basic food groups, these include; carbohydrates, proteins, fats, dairy, fruits, and vegetables. If you are overindulging on junk food then you are putting yourself at risk of weight related conditions such as diabetes and heart disease. There are many people out there who struggle with what to eat and portion sizes, if this is you then you could seek advice from a dietician or nutritionist.

Get Enough Sleep

In an ideal world you need to be aiming for around 6 to 8 hours of sleep each night. Of course, it isn't just about how much sleep you're getting, but also about whether you are getting solid sleep or not. If you are waking up several times during the night then you're not getting the recommended amount of sleep that you need, and this should be addressed. It might be that you have children waking you up throughout the night, this one can't really be avoided. However, if you are tossing and turning due to an uncomfortable mattress then it might be time to buy a new one. Mattresses need to be changed every 8 to 10 years otherwise they lose their supportiveness. Continuously missing out on vital hours of sleep can lead to irritability, exhaustion, and lack of concentration. If you can't seem to find a solution, make an appointment with your doctor to discuss your options.

Visit A Therapist

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health, in fact the two go hand-in-hand and work as a perfect pair. If you have issues that you believe are deeper rooted then it might be time to visit a therapist or counsellor. They can listen to what you've been through, what you are going through, and help you find a solution. You don't just want to go to any person, you need to do some research here and find the right one. Take a look online to see what sort of therapy you would like and then contact a few therapists or counsellors for quotes.

Use Supplements

If you don’t get everything you need from your diet then you may wish to take some form of supplement. These are not to be used instead of real food and drink, instead, you take them alongside your usual diet. They can provide your body with the much needed vitamins and nutrients it needs to not only survive, but to thrive.
