As winter slowly starts to fade and the first hints of spring appear, I always feel the urge to refresh my wardrobe a little. Nothing dramatic, just a few pieces that feel lighter, comfortable and easy to wear as the seasons start to change.
Spring is one of those times of year when the weather can’t quite make up its mind. One day it feels warm and hopeful, the next it’s back to chilly mornings and layers again. Because of that, I tend to look for clothes that are versatile, comfortable and easy to style in different ways depending on the day.
This year I’ve partnered with Cotton Traders to create a little Seasonal Switch-Up, choosing a couple of pieces that felt perfect for a relaxed Spring Refresh.
This post is part of a gifted collaboration with Cotton Traders. As always, I only share pieces that genuinely fit my lifestyle and everyday wardrobe.
The Pieces I Chose
For this collaboration I wanted something that would fit naturally into my everyday wardrobe. As much as I enjoy dressing up occasionally, most of my days are a mix of working from home, heading out for walks, mountain biking or running errands. So comfort is always high on my priority list.
I chose the Stretch Jersey Bouclé Pull On Trousers in Pecan alongside the Relaxed Long Sleeve Half Zip Sweatshirt, which together create a really easy, relaxed outfit that still feels put together. Both pieces feel like the sort of wardrobe staples you can reach for again and again without having to think too much about styling. Most of my days involve a mix of working from home, walking the dogs or heading out on the bike, so outfits that feel comfortable but still look put together are always the ones I reach for most.
For reference, I’m normally a UK size 6 and I chose XS in the sweatshirt and size 8 (29 length) in the trousers, which both fit comfortably without feeling too oversized.
Stretch Jersey Bouclé Pull On Trousers
The Stretch Jersey Boucle Pull-On Trousers in Pecan were actually the first thing that caught my eye. I love anything that looks a little bit tailored but still feels as comfortable as loungewear, and these definitely sit in that sweet spot.
They have a pull-on waistband, which instantly makes them easy to wear, but the bouclé texture gives them a slightly smarter look than typical jersey trousers. They’re soft and stretchy but still look neat enough that you don’t feel overly casual wearing them out and about.
For sizing reference, I’m normally a UK size 6 and I chose size 8 with the 29 inch leg, which fits me really comfortably. The waistband sits nicely without digging in and the stretch in the fabric means they move easily throughout the day.
As someone with quite a small waist but stronger legs from years of mountain biking, trousers can sometimes be a bit hit or miss for me. These actually fitted really nicely straight away, which is always a good sign.
The pecan colour is also lovely for spring. It’s warm and neutral, so it works well with lighter layers but still pairs nicely with darker pieces if the weather turns cooler again.
Overall, they’re the sort of trousers I can see myself reaching for regularly because they’re comfortable, flattering and easy to style.
Relaxed Long Sleeve Half Zip Sweatshirt
To go with the trousers I chose the Relaxed Long Sleeve Half Zip Sweatshirt, which has quickly become one of those pieces you throw on without even thinking about it. I went for size XS, which gives a relaxed fit without feeling too oversized. If you prefer a looser or more oversized style you could easily size up, but for me the XS works really nicely for everyday wear.
The relaxed fit makes it really comfortable, and I quite like the half zip detail because it gives it a slightly sportier feel while still looking neat enough to wear out and about. As someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, especially with mountain biking and walking the dogs, I’m always drawn to clothing that feels practical but still looks nice enough to wear casually day to day.
This sweatshirt definitely falls into that category. It’s warm without feeling bulky, and it layers nicely over a t-shirt which makes it ideal for those unpredictable spring days.
Easy Everyday Styling
One of the reasons I enjoy pieces like these is because they make getting dressed really simple. The trousers and sweatshirt together create a relaxed outfit that feels comfortable enough for everyday life but still looks tidy and put together. I’ve mostly been styling them with trainers and minimal accessories, which works well for running errands, grabbing coffee or heading out for a walk.
Clothes like this tend to become the pieces you reach for most often because they just fit into normal life so easily.
Why Cotton Traders Works Well for Everyday Wardrobes
Cotton Traders has always been known for creating clothing that focuses on comfort, practicality and quality fabrics rather than fast-moving trends. For me, that’s exactly what I want from everyday clothes. Pieces that feel well made, easy to wear and versatile enough to work across different parts of your routine. Their trousers range in particular has a lot of styles that work well for a Seasonal Switch-Up, whether you prefer relaxed pull-on styles like the ones I chose or something a little more tailored.
Final Thoughts
Putting together this little Spring Refresh with Cotton Traders has been a really nice reminder that updating your wardrobe doesn’t have to mean a complete overhaul. Sometimes just adding a couple of comfortable, versatile pieces is enough to make everything feel a bit fresher and easier to style. For me, this little Seasonal Switch-Up has been a really simple way to give my wardrobe a Spring Refresh without overthinking it.
The Stretch Jersey Bouclé Pull On Trousers and Relaxed Half Zip Sweatshirt have both slipped into my everyday wardrobe really easily, and I can already tell they’re going to be pieces I reach for regularly over the coming months.
If you’re thinking about doing a small wardrobe refresh for spring, it’s definitely worth having a look at their trousers collection.
I’ve worked with Cotton Traders before and really enjoyed styling pieces from their collections, like in my previous autumn outfit post.
