LIFE IN A LOCKDOWN - ISOLATION LIVING week 2

Its week two of the Life in a lockdown linky, Started by Two of my wonderful blogger friends Sarah and Rebecca, This is linky is Where us blogger can come together and discuss how we are dealing with isolation. Check out my week one of Life in a lockdown to catch up on what a linky is.
Let's get stuck into the questions, shall we?
Questions
1) How are you feeling/coping?
This week I am have been going through a lot more down periods. I think it really is hitting me harder this week. I am not sure if it is because work is quite or because the weather is meant to be getting better. My husband is back at work and this has made it seem more real.
2) What are you doing to keep yourself occupied?
I have been doing a lot more walks in the mountains. I love to get out there in the middle of nowhere. I find this really does help my mental health. I love the challenge and freeing feeling of the isolation in the mountains. Plus there is no one for miles around and it really tires out my dogs. My dalmation who is used to running for miles each week with our bike is missing his biking days I think so the mountain is a good place for him to burn off steam.

I have been hitting Zwift hard and My Vo2 max has risen to 48 meaning I am as fit as a 20-year-old and in the top 5% of people my ages. So that feels good. I am finding it hard to force myself to have days off the bike as I am so bored but I need to practice what I preach and rest days are super important.

3) How are you dealing with everything at the moment – are you self-isolated, going out for essentials etc? Has this changed?
Isolation is getting to me this week. We are going food shopping once a week to the town which is 1 hour each way. This at least gets us out the house. I am a highlander and am used to isolation in the winter but it is very surreal this time of year. I am missing my friends now and everyday things we take for granted.
4) What advice do you have for others?
Try to remember this is only temporary and we are all in this together. Yes just now it feels rubbish and dont feel guilty for feeling this way. It is ok to not be ok. I know I keep saying that but it is. We are all doing this to save the strain on our NHS and that is the most important thing.

5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
I have ordered from the bakery again. I haven't ordered anything online this week now that I think of it. I am trying to be as sensible as I can be with money. That's not true actually I ordered new MTB googles from an independent bike shop. They are not the colour I thought they were but I am going to keep them anyway. Every little sale helps right.
6) How has your routine been this week? (Question by Don't Cramp My Style )
My routine has changed a bit. I am now getting up later. Which you might think is no big deal but I am a morning person so this has been a weird adjustment for me. I am also making more time for stretching.
7) Have you planned anything for once lockdown is over the past 7 days? (Question by Don't Cramp My Style )
Yes, I have faced time two of our best friends and we plan to go on a little biking week somewhere in the UK once we can. They live in the lake district and so far we have missed two weekends we had planned with them.

I am still planning all my cake eating for food review purposes of course and coffee drinking plans.

8) Anything else.
update on Deerdre she has not been down here in a few days. I think she is still annoyed I told her off. (see week one for the story)

Also in one of our hike, we found an old ruin roundhouse. I have never seen them on the west coast before. I grew up on the east coast of the Scottish highland where there are lots of them about. So to a history buff like me, I found this really interesting and it was in a funny place too.

I hope you have enjoyed this week's Linky

  1. It sounds like you've been getting out as much as you can do on the hills. It looks glorious. Usually we'd be in N wales or Lake District on a sunny weekend but it's not so bad where we live on the edge of Salford, a canal and woods are at the end of our street.
hope you have as good a week as you can,
love Bec (becinmonton) p.s. i've joined the link up too.

  2. Thank you for linking up! Ordering from the bakery sounds so good. I am tempted to order from our local tearooms as I am missing their cakes!
