When you test a lot of beauty products, you quickly realise that the real test isn’t the first impression. It’s whether you actually repurchase the product once it’s finished.
Over the years of running MissLJBeauty I’ve tried hundreds of skincare, makeup and haircare products. New launches appear constantly, trends move quickly and there is always another serum, SPF or mascara being talked about online.
Some products are lovely to try once, some are good but easily replaced, and some quietly disappear from your routine once the review is finished. But every now and then a product proves itself in a much more meaningful way. It becomes something you actually repurchase with your own money.
For me, that’s the real test of whether a beauty product is worth recommending. Anyone can enjoy something for a few weeks, but when you finish a product and immediately buy it again, that usually means it genuinely works.
My lifestyle is also fairly active. I spend a lot of time outdoors mountain biking and walking the dogs, and I also train indoors on a bike trainer which can get incredibly sweaty. That means my skincare and beauty products have to deal with wind exposure, sweat, changing weather and long days outside.
The products in this post are the ones that have passed that test. These are the beauty products I’ve finished, replaced and genuinely bought again because they consistently work in my routine.
Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun SPF50+
Sunscreen is easily one of the most important products in my skincare routine, especially because of how much time I spend outdoors.
Between mountain biking, walking the dogs and general day-to-day life, my skin is exposed to a lot of wind, changing weather and sun. On some weeks I can easily spend five hours out on a mountain bike ride, sometimes more than once. Even when I’m not riding, I’m usually outside doing something.
Because of that, finding a sunscreen that feels comfortable enough to wear every day is essential.
Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun SPF50+ is one of the few SPFs I’ve tried that I genuinely enjoy wearing daily. I shared my full experience in my Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun review. It has a lightweight texture that blends easily into the skin and doesn’t leave a heavy or greasy feeling behind. It also sits nicely under makeup, which makes it much easier to include in a normal routine.
One of the biggest challenges with sunscreen is simply remembering to apply it consistently. When the formula feels pleasant and comfortable on the skin, that habit becomes much easier to maintain. That’s exactly why this is a product I’ve ended up repurchasing.
The Inkey List PDRN Serum
Hydration and skin barrier repair have become two of the biggest focuses in my skincare routine.
Earlier this year I dealt with a skin rash flare up caused by allergies, which was a good reminder that sometimes the best thing you can do for your skin is simplify your routine and focus on barrier support.
The Inkey List PDRN Serum is one of the more interesting products I’ve tested recently. It’s designed to support the skin barrier while helping improve hydration levels, which is exactly what my skin tends to need after long days outdoors.
Wind exposure can leave skin feeling tight and slightly dehydrated, especially after hours outside riding. This type of serum fits really nicely into my routine because it layers easily with other skincare products and doesn’t feel heavy or complicated to use.
It’s the sort of product that quietly becomes part of a routine, which is usually the sign that it’s doing something right. I wrote a full Inkey List PDRN Serum review after testing it in my skincare routine
Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair
Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair is one of those iconic skincare products that has built a huge reputation over the years.
I don’t always have it in my routine constantly because it’s definitely more of a treat purchase for me, but it’s a product I return to whenever my skin needs a bit of extra care.
After long days outdoors or periods where my skin feels tired or dehydrated, this is the kind of serum I reach for. It has a lightweight texture that layers beautifully with other skincare products and helps the skin feel smoother and more hydrated overnight.
One of the reasons this serum has stayed popular for so long is how easy it is to include in a routine. It works well with other products and doesn’t feel complicated to use, which makes it a really reliable option when your skin needs a little extra support.
Rhode Glazing Milk
Rhode is one of those skincare brands that gets talked about everywhere online, so I was really curious to see how the products performed in real life.
The Rhode Glazing Milk is a product that fits really nicely into a hydration-focused skincare routine. It has a lightweight milky texture that helps add an extra layer of hydration and leaves the skin looking healthy and slightly more radiant.
I tend to use products like this when my skin feels like it needs a little extra support, particularly after being outdoors for long periods. Wind exposure and sun can leave the skin feeling slightly dull or dehydrated, so adding lightweight hydration can make a noticeable difference.
It’s a simple product, but sometimes those are the ones that end up working the best.
Kylie Cosmetics Skin Tint Blurring Elixir
When it comes to base makeup I tend to prefer products that look natural and feel lightweight on the skin.
I don’t really enjoy heavy foundations, especially when I’m spending time outdoors or doing active things during the day. Something that evens out the skin tone without feeling like a full layer of makeup is usually what I look for.
The Kylie Cosmetics Skin Tint Blurring Elixir fits really nicely into that category. It helps smooth out the complexion while still looking quite natural on the skin.
For everyday makeup it’s the sort of product that’s easy to apply quickly and works well alongside skincare and SPF.
Olaplex No.3 Hair Perfector
Hair care is something people don’t always talk about when discussing beauty routines, but if you spend time outdoors you quickly realise how much wind and weather can affect your hair.
Mountain biking helmets, wind exposure and long days outside can leave hair feeling dry or slightly damaged.
Olaplex No.3 Hair Perfector is one of those treatments I come back to whenever my hair feels like it needs a bit of extra help. It’s designed to strengthen the hair and improve overall condition.
It’s the sort of treatment that fits easily into a routine and consistently leaves the hair feeling healthier. I have done a full review of this, and I stand by this is game-changing for your hair.
Kérastase Blond Absolu
Keeping blonde hair looking fresh can be surprisingly difficult when you spend a lot of time outdoors.
Sun exposure, wind and general wear can leave blonde hair looking slightly dull over time.
The Kérastase Blond Absolu range is something I’ve returned to several times because it helps keep my hair looking brighter and feeling softer. It’s one of those ranges that consistently delivers good results, which is why I’ve ended up repurchasing it.
Charlotte Tilbury Setting Spray
When I do wear makeup, I want it to actually stay in place.
Between busy days, outdoor activities and normal life, makeup that disappears after a couple of hours isn’t ideal.
The Charlotte Tilbury setting spray helps lock everything in place while still leaving the skin looking natural. It doesn’t make the skin feel tight or overly matte, which is something I always try to avoid.
Once you get used to using a good setting spray, it’s surprisingly hard to go back to not using one.
Charlotte Tilbury Exagger-Eyes Mascara
Mascara is probably the beauty product I finish the fastest.
I like mascaras that give good definition and length without clumping or feeling heavy on the lashes.
Charlotte Tilbury Exagger-Eyes Mascara is one of those products that’s very easy to wear day to day. It separates the lashes nicely and gives a bit of extra definition without looking overly dramatic.
It’s the sort of mascara that works well for everyday makeup, which is exactly why I keep finding myself repurchasing it.
Final Thoughts
One of the most interesting things about testing beauty products regularly is seeing which ones quietly become part of your routine.
New launches are always exciting and there’s always something new to try, but the products that really stand out are the ones you actually finish and buy again. Repurchasing something usually means it fits naturally into your routine and consistently delivers good results.
The beauty products in this list are the ones that have managed to do exactly that. They’ve survived long days outdoors, sweaty indoor training sessions and everyday life, which is probably the best recommendation I can give.
Sometimes the best beauty discoveries aren’t the newest launches, but the products you find yourself coming back to again and again. I’m sure this list will evolve over time as I continue testing new products, but these are the ones that have truly earned their place in my routine so far.
