Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum Review: Is It Worth the Hype?

I am a marketer's dream. I saw the Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum all over TikTok and, after seeing what felt like hundreds of reviews, I eventually gave in and bought it. I managed to get it for half price on TikTok Shop, paying £10 instead of the usual £20, so at least I didn't pay full price for my moment of weakness.

I've always liked PDRN as a skincare ingredient, and after summer, my skin was looking a little tired and unhappy. I wanted something that would give it a boost of hydration and bring back some of that healthy, fresh-looking glow, and this seemed to tick all the boxes.

But my experience wasn't quite as straightforward as all those TikTok reviews made it sound. My skin initially broke out badly, which really surprised me because I'm not particularly spot-prone. I've now been using it for around three months, so I've had plenty of time to see whether it was worth sticking with.

And that's what this review is really about: does Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum actually live up to all the hype?

Quick Take: Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum

If you want the short version, I'm quite torn on this one. After an awful initial breakout, my skin eventually settled and I can now see why the Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum has become such a buzzy Korean skincare product. My skin looks healthier, fresher, more hydrated and bouncier, but I wouldn't say it's an instant winner.

Overall rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5

Best for: Normal skin that needs extra hydration and a healthier-looking glow.

What I loved most: How my skin looks now after consistent use.

What I didn't love: The initial breakout and the very strong fragrance.

Would I buy it again? Maybe. I like the results, but I've used a PDRN serum I prefer.

Is Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum Right for Your Skin Type?

I think this is one where your skin type matters. Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum is very hydrating, and after three months of use I can see why it appeals to people looking for plumper, healthier-looking skin, but my own experience wasn't completely straightforward.

Skin Type My Verdict
Normal skin ⭐ Best match based on my experience
Dry skin ✅ Worth considering for the hydration
Combination skin ⚠️ Could work, but I'd introduce it slowly
Oily skin ⚠️ I'd be more cautious
Sensitive skin ⚠️ Patch test first, especially because of the fragrance
Acne-prone skin ⚠️ I'd introduce it very slowly

My skin: I have normal/combination skin that can become dehydrated, particularly after summer, so the hydration and plumping side of this serum really appealed to me.

What Is Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum?

Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum is a Korean serum designed around hydration, skin radiance and the appearance of plumper, healthier-looking skin. It combines PDRN with a peptide complex and other hydrating ingredients, which is why it has become such a popular part of the Medicube PDRN line.

PDRN is one of the ingredients that initially attracted me to this serum. You'll often see salmon PDRN mentioned when people talk about this type of skincare, alongside claims around supporting skin repair and the skin barrier. Peptides are used to support the look of firmer, smoother and more elastic skin. I wouldn't expect a serum to magically transform your skin overnight, but these are ingredients I personally like seeing in a skincare routine.

The texture is also quite different from what I expected. It's a pink serum with a slightly thicker, almost jelly-like consistency, but it spreads easily and doesn't feel as heavy as it looks. You only need a small amount, which is something we'll come back to when we talk about value because this bottle has lasted me surprisingly well.

The big question for me wasn't whether the ingredients sounded impressive on paper. It was whether my skin would actually like the formula, and that took a little time to work out.

Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum: Salmon or Rose?

One thing I think is worth knowing before you buy this serum is that Medicube has different versions of its PDRN Pink Peptide Serum. You'll see both Salmon PDRN and Rose PDRN, so it's worth checking which one you're actually buying.

I have the Salmon PDRN version, which is the one I've been testing for this review. The Rose PDRN version is the vegan option, so if you're looking for a vegan PDRN serum, that's the one you'll want to look for.

This is also why you'll see terms such as salmon PDRN and salmon DNA when you're searching for Medicube's PDRN serums. The two versions are designed around the same general skincare idea, but the source of the PDRN is different.

I think this is an easy detail to miss when you're seeing the pink bottles all over TikTok, particularly if you're simply searching for "Medicube PDRN serum". I'd definitely check the product name before adding one to your basket so you know whether you're getting the Salmon PDRN or vegan Rose PDRN version.

Where Does Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum Go in Your Skincare Routine?

If you're wondering where to put this serum, it's really simple. I use it in my evening routine, after cleansing and before moisturiser.

My routine:

Cleanser → Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum → Moisturiser

How I use it

  • When: Evening

  • How often: Daily now, although I'd introduce it slowly

  • How much: You only need a small amount

  • Next step: Moisturiser

  • My tip: If you're introducing it, don't change lots of other products at the same time

I think that last point is particularly important with this serum. Because I experienced a breakout when I first started using it, I wish I'd introduced it into a simpler routine so I could have been more certain about what my skin was reacting to.

Key Ingredients in Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum

PDRN: PDRN has become a huge talking point in Korean skincare, particularly salmon-derived PDRN, which is why you'll often see people talking about "salmon DNA" when discussing these serums. Medicube uses sodium DNA in this formula, and it's one of the reasons I was interested in trying this particular PDRN serum.

Peptide complex: The serum contains five peptides, including acetyl hexapeptide-8, copper tripeptide-1, palmitoyl tripeptide-1, palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 and palmitoyl pentapeptide-4. Peptides are commonly used in skincare to support the appearance of smoother, firmer and more elastic-looking skin, which fits with the plumping claims around this serum.

Hydrolyzed collagen: Another ingredient aimed at helping skin look smoother and more plump. It isn't the same thing as replacing the collagen in your skin, but it can help with the moisturised, conditioned feel of a serum like this.

Sodium hyaluronate: A form of hyaluronic acid and a humectant that helps attract and retain moisture. This is one of the ingredients that makes sense for the very hydrated, bouncy finish I get from the serum.

Niacinamide: A well-known skincare ingredient that can support the skin barrier and help improve the appearance of uneven tone and overall skin texture.

There are also several supporting ingredients that help create the serum's texture and hydration, including butylene glycol, dipropylene glycol and isopropyl myristate.

For me, the ingredient list is definitely appealing on paper. You've got PDRN, peptides and several hydrating ingredients in one formula. The more important question, though, is whether your skin actually gets along with the whole formula, because my initial breakout means I wouldn't recommend blindly assuming that an impressive ingredient list guarantees a perfect experience.

What Can Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum Do for Your Skin?

The reason this serum caught my attention wasn't just the TikTok hype. I liked the idea of combining PDRN and peptides with hydrating ingredients to support healthier-looking skin. After using it consistently, these are the areas where I've noticed the biggest difference.

  • Hydration: My skin feels noticeably more hydrated and comfortable, which is probably the biggest change I've noticed.

  • Skin texture: My complexion looks smoother and generally healthier now that I've been using it consistently.

  • Radiance: It gives my skin a fresher, more radiant appearance rather than leaving it looking flat or tired.

  • Elasticity and bounce: This is another result I really like. My skin has that soft, bouncy feel that I was hoping for when I bought a PDRN serum.

  • Skin barrier: The formula contains ingredients commonly used to support the skin barrier, and I do think my skin looks healthier overall now.

  • Fine lines and wrinkles: I wouldn't say this has transformed my wrinkles, but well-hydrated skin can make fine lines look less obvious, and my skin definitely looks plumper.

  • Glass skin: This isn't going to give you permanent glass skin, but the combination of hydration, radiance and bounce does give me that coveted glass skin appearance.

For me, this is much more of a hydrating glow serum than a treatment I'd buy specifically for dark spots or uneven skin tone. The biggest improvement I've seen is in the overall health and appearance of my complexion rather than one particular skin concern.

Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum Packaging & First Impressions

I actually really like the packaging. It's clean, simple and a lovely soft pink, which fits the whole PDRN Pink Peptide Serum concept without looking too over the top. It also feels like the sort of Korean skincare product that is going to look nice sitting on your bathroom shelf.

The texture was what surprised me initially. It's a slightly thicker pink serum that reminded me of Calpol from when I was a child. Thankfully, it doesn't feel anything like Calpol on the skin, and you only need a very small amount.

The one thing I wasn't expecting was the scent. It's quite floral and fresh, but much stronger than I expected from a serum. In fact, I'd say it's verging on overpowering for me. I don't mind a scented skincare product, but this is definitely something I'd want to know before buying, particularly if you prefer your skincare to be lightly scented or fragrance-free.

How to Use Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum

This is quite an easy serum to add to your routine, but after my experience I'd be a little more careful about what you introduce alongside it.

Quick guide:

  • Best used: Evening
  • Works well with: Hydrating serums, hyaluronic acid, peptides and a moisturiser
  • Can be used with: Vitamin C, although I'd introduce the products separately if you're new to either
  • Be more cautious with: Tretinoin and other strong active ingredients
  • How much: You only need a small amount
  • How often: I use it daily now, but I'd start slowly if you're new to it

I was using both tretinoin and Sunday Riley vitamin C when I first introduced Medicube, and my skin broke out badly. I can't say that the serum caused it because there were several active products in my routine at the time, but it did make me realise how difficult it is to work out what your skin is reacting to when you're changing several things at once.

If I were starting again, I'd introduce the serum on its own and give my skin a little time before adding anything else new. Once you know your skin is happy with it, it's a very easy hydrating serum to slot into your routine.

And because you use so little, there's no need to cover your face in it. A small amount is more than enough, which is probably why my bottle still looks almost full after three months.

My Results After Three Months of Using Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum

My experience with this serum has definitely been a journey. I didn't love it straight away, and actually, my first few weeks were quite the opposite. My skin broke out badly, which really surprised me because I'm not someone who normally struggles with spots.

At first I was tempted to stop using it completely. When a skincare product suddenly gives you a face full of spots, it's very hard to look past that and remember all the lovely things you've read about it online. But I decided to give my skin some time and see what happened.

Thankfully, the breakout did settle down, and after around three months of consistent use, I can finally see why this serum has become so popular. My skin looks healthier, fresher and more hydrated, and it has that lovely bouncy quality that I was hoping for when I bought it.

The results aren't dramatic in the way the TikTok videos sometimes make skincare look, but my overall complexion looks happier. My skin feels softer and more hydrated, and I definitely notice more of a healthy glow when I'm using it consistently.

I still can't say for certain what caused that initial breakout. I was also using tretinoin and vitamin C around the same time, so there were several things going on in my routine. It's completely possible that I was simply asking too much of my skin rather than the Medicube serum being solely responsible.

That's why I'm reluctant to tell you that you just need to "push through" a breakout with this product. A bad reaction isn't something you should automatically ignore because a product is viral. In my case, things settled and the serum eventually worked well for me, but everyone's skin is different.

The biggest lesson for me has been that consistency matters. Once my skin had settled, I started seeing the hydration, bounce and healthy-looking glow I originally wanted, and now I genuinely enjoy using it.

What I Learned From Testing Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum

The biggest thing I learnt from using this serum is that not every hyped-up skincare product is going to be an instant winner. It's very easy to see hundreds of positive reviews on TikTok and assume that if everyone else loves something, your skin will too.

That definitely wasn't my experience.

What surprised me most was that my opinion changed completely with consistent use. My skin is now more hydrated, looks healthier and has that lovely bouncy, fresh finish I was hoping for.

For me, it's been a bit of trial and error, and that's honestly what skincare is sometimes. What works beautifully for one person won't necessarily work for another, and sometimes you have to take a step back, simplify things and work out what your own skin actually likes.

The funny thing is that after all that, I do understand the hype now. I'm just not sure I'd say it's the best PDRN serum I've tried.

Is Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum Worth the Money?

I paid £10 for my bottle on TikTok Shop, which was half the usual £20 price, so I can't complain too much about what I paid. At £20, though, I think the question becomes a little more complicated.

One thing I will say is that this serum lasts. You only need a small amount each time, and after around three months of regular use, my bottle still looks almost full. So even at the full price, you're not going to be replacing it every few weeks.

The results are good too. Once my skin settled, I noticed that it looked healthier, fresher, more hydrated and bouncier. But for me, that's not quite enough to make it an automatic repurchase, especially when I've already tried another PDRN serum that I prefer.

Would I buy it again? Maybe, but it's not at the top of my list. If I found it heavily discounted again, I'd probably be tempted, but at £20 I'd be more inclined to spend my money on the PDRN serum that I already know works well for my skin without the initial breakout.

So yes, I think it's good value in terms of how long the bottle lasts, but good value and my favourite product aren't necessarily the same thing.

Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum vs The Inkey List PDRN Serum

I've tried both Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum and The Inkey List PDRN Serum, and for me, The Inkey List wins.

I actually prefer the Inkey List serum because I got on with it much more easily. It never gave me the initial breakout I experienced with Medicube, and I found the overall experience much more straightforward.

Medicube does have a lot going for it. The combination of PDRN, five peptides and hydrating ingredients is impressive, and after three months I can see the difference in my skin. It looks healthier, more hydrated and bouncier than it did when I started.

But if I were standing in front of both and had to choose where to spend my money, I'd pick The Inkey List. I don't think Medicube is a bad serum, but I also don't think you need to spend more just because it's a buzzy Korean skincare product.

This is probably the biggest thing I took away from trying both: the more expensive or more hyped product isn't automatically the better one. For my skin, the simpler choice won.

Before You Buy Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum

Is Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum Good for Acne-Prone Skin?

I'd be cautious. I'm not particularly spot-prone, yet I experienced a pretty significant breakout when I first started using it. I can't say for certain that the serum caused it because I was also using other active skincare at the time, but it's definitely something I'd want to know before buying.

If you're acne-prone or your skin is easily upset, I'd introduce it slowly and avoid changing several other products at the same time.

Does Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum Give You Glass Skin?

It can give the skin a lovely healthy, hydrated and bouncy appearance, and after three months that's something I've definitely noticed. I wouldn't expect it to magically give you permanent glass skin, though. For me, the result is more about well-hydrated, fresh-looking skin with a healthy glow.

Is Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum Heavily Fragranced?

For me, yes. The scent is quite floral and fresh, but I find it stronger than I'd like from a serum and sometimes a little overpowering. If you prefer fragrance-free skincare, this is definitely worth knowing before you buy it.

How Long Does a Bottle of Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum Last?

A surprisingly long time. You only need a small amount each evening, and after around three months of daily use, my bottle still looks almost full. So although £20 might initially seem like a lot for a serum, the bottle should last you a good while.

Would I Recommend Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum?

I'm more on the fence than I expected to be. I do like how my skin looks now and I understand why people love it, but the initial breakout made me cautious and I already have a PDRN serum from The Inkey List that I prefer.

If you can pick it up for £10 like I did, I think it's worth trying if you're interested in PDRN and peptides. At the full £20 price, I'd personally think about whether you want this particular formula or whether you'd rather spend your money on a PDRN serum you already know your skin likes.

Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Leaves my skin looking healthier and fresher

  • Gives a lovely hydrated, bouncy finish

  • Contains PDRN and five peptides

  • You only need a small amount

  • The bottle lasts really well

  • My skin looks more radiant after consistent use

  • Good option if you're looking for a hydrating PDRN serum

Cons

  • My skin broke out badly when I first started using it

  • The fragrance is quite strong

  • I think there are better PDRN serums available

  • I wouldn't recommend rushing into daily use if your skin is easily irritated

My verdict

I can understand the hype now, but I wouldn't call this a must-have. Once my skin settled, I really liked the hydrated, healthy and bouncy finish, but the initial breakout and strong fragrance took some of the shine off it for me.

It's a good serum, but I don't think it's the best PDRN serum I've tried.

Final Thoughts: Would I Recommend Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum?

After three months, I can finally understand why Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum has become so popular. Once my skin settled, I really liked the results. My complexion looks healthier, fresher and more hydrated, and I love that slightly bouncy, plump look it gives my skin.

But would I rush out and tell everyone they need it? No.

The initial breakout really knocked my confidence in the product, and the strong fragrance is something I still don't love. I also can't completely separate the serum from the other active skincare I was using at the time, so I'm not prepared to say that Medicube definitely caused the breakout. That's simply something I can't know for certain.

What I can tell you is that I stuck with it, my skin settled, and I now genuinely enjoy using it. So if you're already interested in PDRN and peptides and your skin gets along with the formula, I can see why you'd love it.

For me, though, The Inkey List PDRN Serum is still the one I'd choose, simply because my skin got on with it better.

So is Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum worth the hype? I think it's good, but I don't think the TikTok hype means it's automatically the best PDRN serum out there. And perhaps that's the most useful thing I can tell you after spending three months testing it.

Frequently Asked Questions About Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum

Does Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum Really Work?

For me, yes, but it wasn't an instant result. My skin initially broke out badly, which made me question the product completely. After around three months of consistent use, however, my skin looks healthier, fresher, more hydrated and bouncier. I wouldn't describe it as a miracle serum, but I can see a difference in my overall complexion.

Can Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum Cause Breakouts?

I can't say that it definitely caused my breakout, but I did experience a significant breakout when I first introduced it. I was also using tretinoin and vitamin C at the time, so there were several changes happening in my routine. My skin eventually settled, but this is why I'd recommend introducing the serum on its own rather than changing several products at once.

How Long Does Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum Take to Work?

I think this is one of those serums where consistency matters. I didn't see the results I wanted straight away because my skin was initially unhappy with the product. After around three months, I noticed that my skin looked healthier, more hydrated and bouncier. So I wouldn't buy this expecting an overnight transformation.

Can You Use Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum Every Day?

Yes, I've been using mine daily in the evening after cleansing. However, if you're new to the serum or have sensitive skin, I'd start more slowly and see how your skin responds. My own experience has made me much more cautious about introducing new skincare too quickly.

Can You Use Medicube PDRN Serum With Retinol or Tretinoin?

I was using tretinoin while testing this serum, but I can't say whether the combination contributed to my initial breakout. If you're already using a strong retinoid, I'd introduce the Medicube serum separately rather than adding several new products at once. That way, if your skin reacts, you have a much better chance of working out what caused it.

Can You Use Medicube PDRN Serum With Vitamin C?

I was also using vitamin C while testing this serum. Again, I can't say that combining the two caused my breakout, but my experience has taught me not to introduce several active products at the same time. If you're adding this serum to an established vitamin C routine, I'd introduce the Medicube slowly and keep everything else consistent.

Does Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum Give You Glass Skin?

It gives my skin a much healthier, plumper and more hydrated appearance, which definitely gets me closer to that glass skin look. I wouldn't expect it to permanently give you glass skin, though. For me, the biggest difference is the combination of hydration, bounce and a healthier-looking glow after consistent use.

Does Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum Stain Your Skin?

No. Despite how bright pink the serum looks in the bottle, it doesn't leave my skin pink after applying it. The colour looks quite dramatic when you first dispense it, but once I spread it over my face and let it absorb, there's no noticeable tint left behind.

So you don't need to worry about walking around with a pink face after using it.
