Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask: Worth the Hype? A Beauty Blogger Review

I was watching one of my favourite beauty bloggers on YouTube and she was talking about this product and how much she loved it and Thats all I needed to pop it stroght in my next beauty order. I have a very exciting trip coming up with a very long flight and I cant be the only who walks off the plane like a dehydrated prune? So the name of this alone peaked my interest

let’s be honest, the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask has been everywhere now on all my ads. Yes big brother is watching but my feed is flooded now From skincare routines on Instagram to “holy grail” TikToks and beauty shelves in Space NK, this multitasking hydration mask is riding a serious wave of hype.

So we all know I had to put this, let's face it, expensive mask to the test for you all. But as always, I had to ask: Is it just influencer magic, or is this mask truly a skin saviour?

About me: I have combination skin, and I spend a lot of time outdoors and in the elements. Right now my complexion is dehydrated and in need of some help after a bit of irritation I had lately. I am trained as a make up artist and facialist. So I am picky.

Is the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask Really Worth the Hype? A Beauty Blogger Review

You've heard the buzz. But what makes this creamy little blue tube so iconic in the world of night creams and face masks?

I used the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask for a week straight—overnight, under makeup, and post-sun and here’s everything I found out.

What is the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask?

It’s a hydrating overnight mask that also works beautifully as a rich moisturiser or even a primer. Designed to hydrate, plump, and calm tired skin, it’s perfect for when your face feels like it’s been on a 12-hour flight, like mine has lately. This changing weather is doing me no favours at all.

Overview of the Mask

  • Texture: Thick, creamy, non-greasy

  • Packaging: Iconic blue tube, recyclable, minimalist

  • Fragrance: Fragrance-free (good news for sensitive skin!)

  • Target concerns: Dryness, dullness, tired skin

It’s suitable as a night cream alternative, hydrating mask, or moisture booster in your skincare routine.

Key Ingredients That Provide Hydration

Let’s talk about the ingredients, the formula is packed with:

  • Niacinamide – Brightens and improves skin texture

  • Glycerin – Attracts moisture to the skin

  • Hyaluronic acid – Classic plumping ingredient

  • Antioxidants Vitamin E – Help soothe and protect the skin barrier

  • Allantoin- soothes and calms the skin

  • Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5) – improves skin softness

  • Bisabolol – anti-inflammatory and calming

Together, these ingredients make it more than a mask, it’s like a big, comforting drink for your face and my face is indeed in need of this right now and defo on flights. This is not like other night creams, it's so quiet.

Apparently, this mask was reformed in 2021

"As of the latest official ingredient list for the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask, it no longer contains chestnut extract. That ingredient was included in the original 2018 formula but was removed in the reformulated version released in 2021 to make the product fragrance-free and suitable for sensitive skin. So if you tried it in the past and didn't like it, it might be worth trying the version."

How to Use This Overnight Mask

You can use the Jet Lag Mask 3 ways:

  1. Overnight treatment – Apply a thick layer before bed.

  2. 10-minute mask – Rinse or tissue off excess.

  3. Moisturiser or primer – Use a pea-sized amount under makeup for glow and hydration.

Tip: I personally love applying a thin layer post-shower as I would other night creams and sealing it in with a hydrating mist. It leaves my skin super dewy and smooth.

How Does the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask Compare to Other Moisturisers?

Comparison with Night Creams

Jet Lag Mask feels more like a treatment-meets-moisturiser than a traditional night cream. It's richer than your average cream but absorbs surprisingly well. But it is more ceramide mask, less night cream if that makes any sense.

Benefits Over Traditional Face Moisturisers

  • More hydrating than most moisturisers

  • Can double as a mask, primer, or post-facial calming cream

  • Fragrance-free, making it better for sensitive or reactive skin types

Price Point and Value for Money

At around £26 for 64g, it’s not the cheapest, but considering how multi-functional it is, I think it’s fairly priced. You get:

  • Mask

  • Moisturiser

  • Travel skin fix

  • Glow booster

One tube has lasted me nearly 2 months with 2–3 uses per week and is still going strong. So price per use is actually pretty good.

What Results Can You Expect from Using the Jet Lag Mask?

Does It Really Help With Dry Skin?

Yes. My dry patches after cold walks and heater days? Gone overnight. It is like a bit of magic for hydration, especially after I irritated my skin with too many products. Completely my fault. but I am going to guess a beauty blogger problem.

How It Improves Glow and Texture

With consistent use, I noticed a visible improvement in skin texture and overall radiance. My face felt youthful, plumper and looked more “alive” in the mornings. It felt softer and more nourished.

Effect on Different Skin Types

Skin Type Result
Dry Deep hydration, plumping effect
Oily Might feel a bit rich – apply less
Sensitive No irritation or tingling for me

Are There Any Drawbacks or Side Effects of the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask?

Potential Irritation for Acne-Prone Skin

While it's non-comedogenic, the richness might not suit everyone with active breakouts. I wouldn't go near this if I had a breakout, this might feed an angry spot.

Does It Leave Any Residue?

Only if you apply too much. This is a thin layer product which sinks in beautifully.

Fragrance and Its Impact on Sensitive Skin

Good news: it’s fragrance-free, you know how I feel about this if you have been here a while. This type of product does not need a scent. We don't buy face cream to smell nice. We want results.  So, no artificial scents to worry about. It’s also free from sulfates, parabens, and dyes. also cruelty free too! woop.

Is the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask Suitable for Everyone?

Best Practices for Different Skin Types

  • Dry skin? Use overnight.

  • Oily skin? Use as a quick mask, not a daily moisturiser.

  • Combo skin? Apply to dry areas only.

Considerations for Users with Sensitive Skin

With no fragrance or harsh ingredients, it’s one of the more gentle hydration masks out there. Always patch test first though! Especially if you’re on active treatments like tretinon or high vitamin C or let's face it, just patch test.

Using the Mask Alongside Other Skincare Products

Pairs well with:

  • Retinol (use this after to soothe)

  • Serums (apply serums first, then seal in with this)

  • SPFs (can use under or over a moisturiser layer)

My Review of the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask

Is the Jet Lag Mask worth the hype? I have been using this mask a while now and I can honestly say, Yes, I really enjoy this mask. It is pricey at £26 but if you have done something silly and overused actives or if you are travelling and your skin is looking unusually old. Yes, the lack of water and hydration in your skin ages you. Think about it do you feel like you look older after a flight? The lack of hydration with the horrid plane air does your skin a mischief and a jet lag mask is worth it just to help with this right?

It is versatile, it leaves my skin plump, hydrated and dewy, it plays nice with my tretinon and actives. It also feels so luxurious. It can double as a nighttime face moisturiser when travelling so one less product to pack. It's noncomedogenic, and I can agree with that I have blackheads, and this has never made them any worse. My skin feels soft after using this every time. It's worth it to me. Just remember, you don't need a lot of this product; it really is a less-is-more situation here. Which is good at this price bracket. You do no need to do what the gals on tiktok are going and oversaturating your face with it. Also, why on earth would you sit on the plane like that?

If, like me, you struggle with dry skin, want a glow boost, or just love a product that delivers results with minimal effort, this is for you.

I also love that it is vegan and cruelty-free. It's clean beauty and I like it. It is going right in my travel bag.

This isn’t just for jet-setters, it’s for anyone whose skin needs a reset. While not groundbreaking in ingredients, the formula works, and for me, it’s a solid staple in any skincare routine.

But always remember to look for a good sale or discount code and save yourself some pennies if you are buying this. Sephora and cult beauty both stock it. I got mine on sale.  Check out more of my reviews on all the most hyped beauty products.
