You might know that this year I found the love of my life in a setting spray in the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush but please don't tell her I cheated on her and tried something new. I’m always on the hunt for products that make my makeup last all day without looking cakey or patchy. When I first heard about Urban Decay’s All Nighter Setting Spray, I was sceptical will it would live up to my holy grail. But its reputation in the beauty community convinced me to give it a go.
I was thinking about last night, and I actually think the urban decay might have been used on my wedding day, but I never purchased it back then. But the hype was so overwhelming, I had to buy it. Yes, TikTok made me do it again. I was heading out to Whistler in Canada to do some mountain bike filming and I needed my makeup to hold up in the heat and humidity, and this one kept appearing in all my searches, so it was a no-brainer to pop it right in my basket.
Spoiler alert: it lives up to the hype! But there are drawbacks.
Overview of Urban Decay’s All Nighter Setting Spray and Its Popularity in the Beauty Community
Urban Decay All Nighter is one of the highest-rated makeup setting sprays out there, thanks to its ability to keep my makeup looking fresh for up to 16 hours without melting, fading, or settling into fine lines. Influencers, makeup artists, and everyday beauty lovers alike rave about its long-lasting power, and it frequently tops “best setting sprays” lists. It is the IT gal of full-face setting sprays promising long-lasting makeup.
What Is Urban Decay Setting Spray?
This is a lightweight, microfine spray designed to lock your makeup in place from morning coffee to evening cocktails and beyond. Developed in an exclusive partnership with Skindinavia, the formula uses patented temperature control technology to actually lower the temperature of your makeup and prevent heat-induced breakdown.

We all know I love to check the ingredients in the products I put on. While I’m not a chemist, I always check the formula to make sure it’s skin-friendly, and Urban Decay setting spray keeps delivering. It’s free of oil and parabens, and the star players include:
- PVP & silicone-based polymers (create a flexible, invisible film that locks makeup in place
- Alcohol denat. (helps the mist dry almost instantly without feeling wet)
- Glycerin & propylene glycol (lightweight humectants that add a touch of hydration without greasiness)
- PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil (ensures an even, microfine spray)
Together, these ingredients give you that weightless, long-lasting hold, no flaking, no clogging, just a flawless finish. But yes, there is Alcohol in this fixing spray, and this can play havoc for some people's skin, so bear that in mind.
Performance
In my experience, this night setting spray truly keeps makeup looking fresh for up to 16 hours, without melting. Yes, I put it to the ultimate test, but more on that later. It sets your make-up and keeps it put, no matter what you throw at it. I actually wore it on a very long 24-hour day. Travelling from the UK to Canada and my make-up held up pretty well considering I was on an 11-hour flight, 4 hours to the airport, then another 3 hours to Whistler. It just has lasting power, which does beat my beloved Charlotte Tilbury if I am completely honest. It just keeps my makeup looking fresher for longer.
Application Tips
-
Shake well before use.
-
Hold the nozzle about 8–10 inches from your face.
-
Spritz in an “X” and then a “T” motion to cover every area.
-
Let it dry naturally, don’t fan or rub your face.
Texture and Finish
This setting spray delivers a weightless, matte finish that feels de-slick rather than drying. If you prefer a dewy look, you can layer it over a dewy primer or use Urban Decay’s Chill Cooling and Hydration Prep Spray beforehand. This is not the same as my airbrush; this is not dewy in any way, it is more classic matte. I prefer this for taking photos as there is less chance of glistening skin in photos.
Longevity of Makeup
In hot and humid conditions, I noticed zero slippage, even on my oily T-zone. My makeup didn’t fade, settle into fine lines, or transfer onto my phone screen. It truly lives up to its “All Nighter” name. Which we all know I was sceptical about.
Skin Compatibility
-
Oily skin: Controls shine without leaving a powdery film.
-
Dry skin: Doesn’t cling to dry patches or accentuate texture.
-
Sensitive skin: It’s free of oil and parabens, though I always recommend a patch test if you’re prone to reactions.
- Combination skin: Balances oil control in the T-zone while keeping drier areas comfortable—no over-stripping or patchiness.
Concealer and Foundation
My foundation and concealer stayed in place even in hot and humid weather. No smudging under the eyes and no settling into fine lines. It kept everything looking just-applied and flawless.
Price & Availability (UK)
The Setting Spray is widely available across UK beauty retailers. A full-size 118 ml bottle typically retails for £23–£26 (e.g. £24 at Boots or £25 at Debenhams), while the handy 30 ml travel size goes for around £12–£14.
Just watch out for occasional flash sales and discount codes that drop the full size to under £20, making it an even better bargain for a spray that really locks your look in place. I got mine from cult beauty as I had points to use up.
You can also pick it up online at Amazon, Sephora, Selfridges, Boots and in stores.
The Urban Decay own UK site is gone when I checked for it, it just goes to a page telling you where to buy their products from.
I also think price is good for this product I have used it a lot and I still have a lot left. I have had it a few months and I would say I have half left. So price per wear is high on this one unlike other product.
My Review of The Urban Decay All Nighter
I have to admit, the longevity of this setting spray is next-level. I’ve worn full glam for weddings, festivals and even 12-hour workdays without a single crease or fade. It truly locks everything in place for a solid 16ish hours, and I love how my foundation, concealer and eyeshadow stay looking freshly applied from application til I hit my cleanser.
That said, I can’t ignore the noticeable alcohol scent, which I hate. While it dries down quickly, the first few spritzes carry quite a boozy hit, which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, especially if you’re sensitive to fragrance or prefer ultra-clean formulas. If you can look past that initial smell, though, the performance really is worth it. It is becoming my favourite setting spray for long periods. I will still be betrothed to Charlotte for day-to-day and a more dewy natural look but nighter spray, as I now call her, is staying in my make-up bag too.
Final Thoughts
Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray is one of the best setting sprays I’ve tried. Its patented temperature control and microfine mist truly keep your makeup locked in for 16 hours, making it a must-have in any makeup kit, especially if you need your look to survive long days or late nights. If you were going to a wedding or festival, this is a must-have in your makeup routine as you will not have to worry about your makeup all day. But this is not for people who like ultra glow, you will be very disappointed, it is matt. But for vibrant makeup that lasts, this is your product.
