The skincare vitamins you need to start taking now

Today I have a bit of a confession and a review for you. First the confession. I fell off the skincare bandwagon. I have been so lax lately and the changing weather has been playing havoc with my skin. I am really suffering the effects of the weather and my laziness. I want to put it out there first. I got to the stage in December where my normally not to bad skin was in a right state.

If you have followed me for a while. You will know I like to be outside whatever the weather and being a mountain biker means for may hours at a time. I kinda just fell out with my current skincare routine and was, to be honest doing very little. You know I will always be fully transparent with you. I am actually annoyed with myself. I mean this blog started from my love of beauty and here I am confessing to a large beauty slip up. I mean skincare is basic in the beauty world. I have also been super run down with my chronic sinusitis so my body is struggling at the moment too.

I was so glad when the lovely people at  Myprotein reached out to me and offered to send me some of their new Myvitamins range of vitamins. That is geared towards beauty and skincare market and I am going to share my journey with the product I received.

First up we have Beauty Bites. These are the salted caramel and almond flavour. I really like this option of getting my vitamins. Let's face its a tasty snack so you don't even think about how much good it is doing you as you eat it.

what I like about these Beauty bites, They have
  •  Collagen which our body needs this for our connective tissue regeneration
  •  Hyaluronic acid just one of the best wonder ingredients in the beauty industry this is used to combat fine lines and wrinkles. It helps with dry skin and it helps with speeding up the healing process.
  •  Retinol ( part of the vitamin a family) This help with skin rejuvenation and exfoliation. it helps to boost cell rejuvenation
  • Vitamin A This helps to maintain healthy vision along with other benefits.
  • Fibre and we all need a bit extra of this in our lives. To ahem keep things regular
  • Protein I mean where to start we need this for growth and repair of our muscles tissues.
  • Vitamin C we need this one for so many things but for a healthy immune system we all need to get our daily does of vitamin C. It also helps to protect our cells from oxidative stress and helps boost your mood.
What Myprotein says about the product.
A convenient source of protein and fibre, this great-tasting snack is enriched with beauty vitamins such as vitamin A, which helps to support your skin from within and plays a key role in maintaining normal vision.1,2

They also contain collagen, which is the most abundant protein in the body and part of all connective tissues, along with 50mg of hyaluronic acid.

With plenty of vitamin C, our Beauty Bites also help to protect cells from oxidative stress and keep you feeling your best.3,4

Coming in an indulgent Salted Caramel Almond flavour, they’re the perfect treat to make part of your daily routine.

Here we have Hair skin and nails gummies. I am obsessed with the packaging of these gummies. It is just so pretty. I know a weird thing to say Laura But I love the aesthetic of the lettering and the whole clean yet fun vibe. Ok enough now the product. So These are different to other gummies I have tried they are gummy like until you chew them then they are like the inside of a jelly baby. I really like this contrast. They taste nice and sweet and blueberry. Nice blueberry, not that awful synthetic blueberry. These gummies are crammed packed with the best and most advanced vitamins to really help your skin nails and hair look in the best condition and what's even better you dont have to faff about with hair product. These start from the inside and work.

What I like about these Gummies. (If I have mentioned above why I like an ingredient I will just list it again and not the explanation.)

  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin D3 helps regulate the immune system and the neuromuscular system.
  • Vitamin E is an antioxidant which helps to protect cells from damage from free radicals
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin B6 helps to make serotonin which helps to regulate your mood and norepinephrine which helps with stress.
  • Vitamin B12 this helps to make red blood cells and helps to keep your nervous system in top form.
  • Biotin boosts the health of our hair nails. Also helps to convert food to energy and manages bloody sugars.
  • Zinc helps to boost our immune system and metabolism functions.
  • Selenium This one is credited with helping slow down the ageing process. It also helps your metabolism and thyroid and helps protect your body from damage caused by oxidative stress
What Myprotein says
Myvitamins Hair, Skin and Nails Gummies contain a blend of beauty vitamins designed to support your beauty regime. As well as zinc to contribute to the maintenance of normal hair, skin and nails, our expert blend also contains Vitamin C to contribute to collagen formation and vitamin B6 to help reduce tiredness and fatigue. (1,3,4) All in one delicious yummy gummy.

Next, we have Biotin tablets. This is part of the B family of vitamins. It is also known as B7. This is one of the tablets I was most intrigued about. I have never taken a Biotin table before and this sound so amazing.

What I love about Biotin
  • It plays a big part in helping to convert food to energy. It helps to breakdown carbs, fats and proteins in the body
  • Did you know having brittle and slit of cracking nails can indicate a Biotin deficiency? so this is the vitamin for you if you have any of these symptoms.
  • Hair loss is another sign of Biotin deficiency too. It plays a big part in keeping our hair healthy.

What Myprotein says
Biotin is a water-soluble B-complex vitamin, also known as vitamin B7, that has several important functions in the body — including supporting metabolism1 and maintaining your hair and skin.

Last but not least. Retinol I mean everyone in the beauty world knows the importance of Retinol. It really is the beauty secret that is not a secret. It is part of the A family of vitamins and it encourages the skin to exfoliate. Which in turn helps to speed up new cell growth. It also helps to boost collagen production.

Why I like Retinol
  • It has been know to reduce and help to get rid of breakouts
  • It helps to fight the ageing process of your skin
  • It evens you skin tone by exfoliating dry and dead skin cells and replacing with new ones

My final thoughts
I have been using these products for nearly a month. I have seen a huge change in my skin hair and nails. I first noticed my nails had become stronger and less breakable. My nails are prone to become damaged in the winter month from too much exposure to cold temperatures. Then I noticed my skin started to look better. It was a bit slower to become apparent But my skin looks and feels more healthy. My hair is very fine, and I have it dyed at the hairdresser and even my hair appears thicker. I might have found the holy grail of skincare vitamins. If like me you have been in a skincare rut you need to try these Myprotein products. I am really enjoying these and will continue to use them.

I hope this post has helped you find some new skincare alternative to try.
