What nootropics and should I be taking them?

Well just like that summer is around the corner and the days are longer and more action-packed. It can be super overwhelming when summer finally arrives on our doorstep. Add into that that we are moving forward with easing back into a more normal life. Every day things are starting to feel different and like we are slowly moving in the right direction.

I talk a lot about mental health and fitness on this site. I am a huge advocate for both of these. I fully believe how we feel can affect our fitness. Let's face it we all train better when we feel good and more energised. It only makes sense that our mood can affect how we act and how we feel. By feel, I don't just mean emotionally I mean physically.

If you are feeling energized and happy you train harder and better than if you are feeling low and a bit run down. We have all been there, right? Our bodies feel drained and just not right. Maybe we have been burning the candle at both ends or recovering from an illness. Listening to our bodies cues are so important. We need to start taking really good care of our bodies and I think the last year has put all our health at the forefront of all of our minds, hasn't it.

Today I want to talk about Nootropics. So Nootropics are the new IT word in the health and fitness industry. But what are they and why do we need to know about them?

Nootropics

These are either natural supplements or synthetic drugs that are used in healthy people to improve cognitive function and health. I know that sounds a bit scary right but it is not. These are used to help improve memory, motivation and creativity.

They can be found in herbs, amino acids. vitamins and minerals which help support cognitive brain functions. With the wonderful world of science, we now have the opportunity for these to be made available to us in higher doses than we could get from these everyday foods. Making it easier for us to make sure we are adding these to our diet and daily routine.

So why should we be taking them?

Let's face it none of us are getting any younger and as we age so does our brains and things are not as sharp as they once were. As a mountain biker, I need to be able to really concentrate on my biking. There is a lot of brainpower needed to partake in this sport. As a blogger, I am constantly researching and learning and I need my brain to be sharp and on top form to do my job.

Lots of people take Nootropics to boost specific areas of brain function like increasing memory alertness motivation or just for general cognitive health.

I personally want to talk about the one I take and why.

Vitamin B12
I have been struggling with a very busy mind and being alert. Which as you know I need to be alert and focused to be a mountain biker. I have to focus on the trail ahead and any new obstacle that may arise.

I spoke to my lovely friends over at BetterYou and asked them what would be the best thing for me to take to help improve this. They suggested I start taking their Boost B12 Oral spray You will know I have worked with BetterYou before and I completely trust their judgement when it comes to all things vitamins and minerals.

Vitamin B12 is involved in the energy production in our body and it has been proven to help to reduce the symptoms of tiredness and fatigue. I was told that because vitamin B12 is difficult to absorb in our gut that adding a supplement to my diet would really help me. It also contributes to a normal functioning nervous system, red blood cell formation and helps to support the immune system. Which is always a bonus especially at the moment.

I have been using The Boost B12 Oral spray for a few weeks now and I already feel the benefits from this little addition to my routine. I spend a lot of time on my body from working out, cycling and recovery. That adding in the right vitamins and minerals just makes sense to me. It is so simple to use it comes in a handy spray bottle. It tastes great, its apricot flavour is delicious. BetterYou's oral spray mechanism has recently won a very prestigious award too. Winning the Innovation Award at the 2021 Queen's awards for enterprise. I mean that is a flex in itself. Getting her Majesty's recognition How incredible is that. I mean I loved BetterYou before but we all know I'm a bit of a royalist so that is very exciting indeed.
