Simple Wellness Tips Every Busy Mom Can Rely On

When it comes to wellness and being a mother, many women struggle to find time for both. However, there are a few simple tips and tricks you can do that will not only improve your wellness, but also your overall health and mood.

Take a Multivitamin

The first thing you should do is scan websites like Metagenics and find a good multivitamin. Simply put, if you aren’t getting the right vitamins and minerals into your body every day, you will feel tired, lose focus, have increased stress, etc.

While this is definitely not a cure-all, it is a good start, especially if you are someone who struggles to eat three square meals a day or you aren’t eating as healthily as you want to.

Start Your Day with Alone Time

While sometimes difficult, change your alarm clock and give yourself 15-20 minutes of alone time each morning. You can do some yoga, some reading, or simply enjoy a cup of coffee while watching an episode of your favourite series.

It is easy to get exceptionally stressed and overwhelmed when you feel like every minute of your day is dedicated to doing things for others. Waking up a bit earlier guarantees you get some time for yourself every day.

Practice Meditation/Breathing Exercises

Stress can be a killer, no matter who you are, and when you are busy from the moment you wake up till the moment you fall asleep, it can be hard to find the time to deal with your stress in a healthy way.

However, short meditations or breathing sessions can help clear your head and lower your stress in a matter of minutes. Breathing exercises, for instance, can be done basically anywhere, whether you are sitting with your morning coffee, or in the car waiting to pick your kids up from school.

Find Time for Exercise

Exercise is a must for everyone, but busy mothers can find it tough to find the time to work out every day. However, exercise doesn’t necessarily mean spending an hour or two in the gym.

There are plenty of alternatives you can do, such as walking to school to pick your kids up, or taking them with you to do a physical activity like playing in the park. Whatever it may be, as little as 15 minutes of exercise can make a world of difference.

Do Activities Alone

As mentioned previously, busy mothers often don’t do much that is just for themselves, or activities they can do by themselves. However, you can easily change this simply by changing the time you do some activities.

If you need to head to the store, for example, do it when the kids are at school. While it may not be the most exciting thing to do, you can do it on your own; there’s no need to rush, you can stop for a coffee, etc.

Learn to Say No

One change you can make that is most certainly difficult to achieve when you are a mother is learning to say no sometimes. There will be days when you just don’t want to cook dinner, for example, and saying no and asking someone to do it is fine.

Learning to say no allows you to put yourself and your needs first. While not always possible, do it when you can, and you will quickly see how much better you feel

Don’t Waste Your Free Time

Another problem that many of us face, whether we are parents or not, is that we sometimes feel like we have wasted whatever free time we may get during the day. We mindlessly watch TV, scroll social media, or zone out.

Instead, use it to its fullest when you have free time. Do a little bit of pampering, read a chapter of the book you have been wanting to read for months, or just make yourself a snack that no one else in your family enjoys. Whatever it may be, use your free time to do things you love and enjoy.

Take Up a Hobby

Hobbies are a brilliant way to destress and do something that is only for you. Not only do they help to clear your head, but you can also pursue a new skill and learn a new talent that may turn into something bigger.

No matter what it is, don’t let it fall by the wayside simply because you may not view it as something equally as important as your other responsibilities. If it is something that brings you happiness and peace, then it is important to do.

Think Ahead

Lastly, when it comes to finding free time, and doing the things you want to do, there is should be a bit of pre-planning involved. For instance, if you can’t find free time in the morning because you need to make breakfast, prepare a bowl of overnight oats. Just by doing that, you’ve already freed up 15 to 20 minutes in the morning.

You can do the same for yourself to ensure you eat properly, by preparing meals in advance and portioning them. This allows you to have a healthy lunch and breakfast without having to find the time to do it.
